So I have been wearing diapers to work for 3 years now. I also try to wear at night as often as possible. I am a big fan of using my diaper for pee. It gotten to where I hardly even have to think about it and I'm going. Also lately I have been working on trying to keep my plumbing open after. This morning when I did my first change of the work day while I was starting to put my diaper on I began to pee without even knowing it. It totally caught me off guard. I know I have read that you cannot go IC just from wearing and using a diaper. But I unable to stop my pee once it started. I ended up having to hold the diaper against my pee pee while I finished. Does this mean I'm becoming incontinent?

Probably don’t need to state the obvious but anyway…
You’re not becoming incontinent due to wearing a diaper but you are probably loosing the muscle strength/control. “If you don’t use it you loose it” comes to mind.
So if you can’t hold it anymore for more than 10 minutes, it’s probably already at an “urge” stage.
As you age it will naturally become harder to get control back.

Definition of urinary incontinence is that if you leak within 4 hours more than 100 ml without any control it's called incontinence. In that case you should see for sure first a doctor for further examinations about possible causes which might be serious! This forum cannot give any medical advice!

To be frank, this absolutely sounds like what the result of some selftraining to make yourself ic.

Of course everything not coming from an actual doctors mouth about any health issues should be taken with a grain of salt, but in short the "tutorial" on becoming diaper dependent said you should first and foremost stop holding and just go every time possible.
When doing so you gradually make releasing subconscious (which you stated you kinda do) and after some time you will loose the strength in the muscle controlling your bladder.

So yeah, this could mean you went further than you liked to, which might actually need a doctor to get the correct instructions to fix :/

Please don't hide this just because it is embarrassing to come forward to and get in touch with medical staff!
Even if it just means you get checked out and everything is fine, just make sure it actually is.

WOW! I never heard of the 4 hour limit. This basically means I have always been incontinent, just not to the degree I needed diapers. I mean, I could never ever in my life could hold it for 4 hours. 2 were the very max between bathroom breaks, but 1,5 was the common. That reduced to like 55-60 mins before I started having accidents frequently enough to start wearing protection.

The definition is including visits of the bathroom, you do not need to hold for 4 hours. This is different from the "Pad-Test", where you drink an specific amount of water and have to hold for one hour without leaking or visiting the toilet.

So I did go and see my urologist. While I didn't tell him about my diaper usage I did tell him about the uncontrolled peeing. After an exam and a prostrate checkup and a test for any infections he came to a conclusion that it's a combination of weakened muscles and fatigue due to age. I'm 63. Lately I've been working 12-hour days 7 days a week he said exhaustion can contribute. Also he recommend doing kegel exercises. So while I still wear diapers on a regular basis and use them for their intended purpose I have been trying not to just go at will and hold it for a little while. I will see if it ever happens again.
