Just got some MegaBloks!

Was feeling a little urge to splurge on some new toys. I love things I can build with, so I bought two packs of MegaBloks from my local Target. With 80 blocks in a case, and at a price point of $17, It was a small price to pay for hours of fun to be had. Who else has MegaBloks? Do you like them, or do you prefer Duplo, or wooden blocks?

I know right? I don't know if it's just because I was younger (everything seems like all your money as a kid), but I was really surprised that they didn't cost more.

Oh yeah! A kid's sense of money/cost is obviously pretty skewed. But yet it's still a little surprising. Maybe especially in comparison to what I think of Legos costing these days though those are usually the kits to build specific things rather than free play blocks.

Just thinking of all the happy and creative hours I spent with those types of toys as a kid. And not only a really little one either!

I had Duplo and a lot of wooden blocks for years. As a kid and early teen I continued to play with and enjoy them. Lost them in a stupid purge I had a while back.

Those are a lot of fun. They've come out with so many new pieces in the last few years. We still have the set that we got for our kids when they were toddlers. (Our oldest just turned 18.) They're also lighter than Duplo, which means they hurt a lot less when your wild two-year-old starts throwing them and hits you in the face.

Yeah! I had a great first play session with them today. I'm amazed at how light they are - but how sturdy your creation can be if you secure them strategically. They're going to be loads of fun.

Had a nice padded playtime with the blocks this morning. The two packs give you a decent about of blocks to build some pretty big stuff. I had fun this morning building pirate ships and having a sea showdown (throwing the extra blocks to see how the ships would hold up against each other). All good things must come to and end though, as I have some adult responsibilities to get to this afternoon. It's probably about time I start cleaning up anyway. My diaper is definitely in need of a change! 😜

I was the greatest dad when my kids were really young because I would get on the floor with them and play with them and their toys. I'd even make up story lines to go with their toy characters. It was a great way to be a little kid and have meaningful time with your little ones.
