Hello,

Glad to have found this forum! I’m a middle age fellow who’s still just trying to figure out life and (now) cope with middle age issues. I decided a while back that I should be wearing diapers overnight, and it has genuinely improved my ability to get a good night’s sleep. One day at breakfast, I just told my husband, “I’m going to start wearing diapers to bed.” He’s generally been supportive, allowing me to figure out what I need to do. I’m not interested in baby behavior. I didn’t even like being treated like a child when I was one, but I definitely appreciate that there are communities like this one in which people are supportive and eager to share their accumulated experience and knowledge.

I’ve had some minor urinary issues for a number of years, but I only recently decided it was time to do something about it. I’ve dribbled for quite a while, usually wasn’t much, so I didn’t have to take measures, but last year things got worse. I think it’s mostly due to age and medication side-effects, and I’m working with a urologist. I was diagnosed with urine retention and overactive bladder. The urologist is working on the retention issue first. I started taking Alfuzosin which has also improved the dribble issue. I also urinate quite a lot, and I was “blessed” with my father’s large bladder. My urologist says the quantity of urine is not a urology issue, which is confusing to me, and that I need to figure out that issue with my primary care doctor.

I’m primarily looking to learn more about how others use their products, improve their performance, and get the most benefit from them. Looking forward to interacting with everyone.

Jeff

Welcome and be welcomed to the wonderful world of ADISC, where near everyone is wearing diapers.

You are proceeding on the correct path with having open discussion with your Doctor and Partner.

Take care with tracking the side-effects of the many medications as they can be worst than just wearing diapers. It is important to keep a journal so that you can catch small changes and when you see your Doctor, review it.

Regarding protection, you should work at coming to an understanding regarding the volume you need to easily sleep the night with an hour or two on either side.

Today, we are luck as there is a wide selection of IC, high quality diapers available with high-capacity and excellent absorbance, plus a bunch of other features you have not even consider yet. I like the folks at Northshore.com as they have an excellent customer care group and will provide free diaper samples to allow you to test your needs.

I am a very restless and also a side-sleeper, so in addition to NS's MEGAMAX diapers, I also use their Trifecta waterproof diaper covers as I dislike leaks and assuring the bed is dry is just worth the additional step.

Again, welcome to ADISC!
