I'm taking leave with several other members. I don't want this to sound in the least melodramatic. Everyone has been very supportive! Its just that life has gotten complicated. And, my interest has slowly shifted to other things. I'll still be on Skype, MSN, FA, etc.

This is nothing personal against anyone here. And no, not even Moo. Him and Peachy do keep this site running. They protect our community from the scum of the Internet, and in return, have my respect. Before people start complaining about, "Waaah! Its not like TBDL.", it is still a good place. If it sucked that much, why would you still be here? Closing Kraiden's thread was a false step. I have to admit that. He had something to say, but will be denied the chance. Such a shame.

Otherwise, intense hugs to everyone. You made things very meaningful. Thank you for giving me some direction in my life on the Internet. I have special devotions for:

Forums in reality, are dictatorships and people don't like where Moo has taken ADISC so they can't be bothered anymore. The truth of the matter is that people who don't like the way Moo is running it can either tag-along with it anyway, or f*** off...

ADISC is still an awesome site and I think most people leaving think so, They just want something else

I'm probably gunna be given neg rep for this but, I have to say it. Moo couldnt you've at least said something like "We'll all miss you." or something? Not to sound mean but, in my opinion your post sounded kind of cocky. I stand by what I say and, you can neg rep me all you like.

Nice exit thread: specifically saying how much and why you like ADISC & trying to making sure people don't get the idea you left because of discontent.

So now - not only are we going on the assumption that anybody leaving must be part of the exodus of malcontents but we are assuming that their discontent is over the avalanche of new faces.

This "leaving-in-a-huff-over-ADISC's-lower-quality-due-to-too-much-newbies" notion has got right into our psyche; have we ceased to be able to discern? Did not Falkio make most of his post #1 specifically about saying how gret the site is - and all the people who made his time here good - and that his exit has nothing to do with the hyphenated phenomenon?

The amount of emotion over that notion has reinforced it to the point of being a meme, a potent one, and a damaging one. I myself have experienced what it is like when people confuse what you are saying with what they assume you are saying.

It is disturbing to me that some of our smartest and most experienced members make this error of perception; maybe it is because they know they are smart and experienced and assume a quick glance at a thread suffices.

This says rather less about misled people and rather more about the pervasiveness of memes, and how they can guide our thinking. In front of our noses.

Don't get me wrong - my respect for and admiration of such people is undiminished. But my understanding of how genocides happen from good people, how iPODs are sold, and how koolaid gets drunk has deepened.
