Well I've been thinking about Jacking up my truck a foot or 2 and getting some monster rims.

But is there anything I can do better?

If I can get a new diesel engine for around that, I'd go for it, because that means more power :)

Btw picture of my truck as it looks right now on my profile. The body is rough though.

Something more worth while? ...A bigger engine means nothing other than you polute more so you can drive faster illegally or on a large expanse of private property...Assuming you don't have the vast amount of space and property to do such, I'm going to say you should invest it in a college fund and sort your future out before some silly wheels on a car or another engine which is fundamentally unneeded.

Either way, what you do is what you do.

Save your money! There will be more important things later down the road. I mean sure, spend $800 of it and get a sweet TV or something if you want it. But put that $3k in the bank, please! It'll be there gathering interest for when you want it later.

I see a darwin award in your future!

My advice is to not screw with gravity and don't waste your money on something that is pretty useless. I would say spend the money on something you really need such as college funding or start a retirement fund. Hell you can even invest it, stock prices are so damn low right now.

I would put the $3,800.00 in stocks and watch it grow to $1200. Though really, you could put it in a cd or money market and put it away for college. Error404 gave good advise. Now if you had $38,000., you could buy a '40 Ford hot rod!

Wait another 2, 3, maybe even 4 months if you invest anything (stock wise) that is when the recession is going to be at it's worst. After then all stocks will be low (good time for buying) and any weak companies will be off the market, so you don't put anything in a failing company.

Why not do something to make your car look better? I'd just save it if I were you. If you really want to splurge on yourself, then don't spend all of it. You're going to probably want that money later on

Ok.. And I got it from my second job. My tips for the 2 months since I've had the job ( very busy restuarant.. :) )

Waiter FTW..

But yea.. Good ideas here... I might sell my truck and buy something like a Ford Escort ( something smaller and more reasonable, easier to maintain )

I had it tuned up, new exhaust system, new muffler, catalytic converters, new glow plugs, new power window motors, A/C charged, heater core replaced, 4 new tires. Since I bought it for 600.00 in October.

It is a Diesel, and its got 2 gas tanks, a trailer hitch, it's a 4x4

I think that because it runs well I can get anout $1,375 for it. Mechanically flawless, cosmetically damaged.. lol

Enough for a Geo Metro or used Corolla, something..

>_<

Sure its over 200,000 miles but thats nothing for a Diesel.

But how is its MPG? Also Diesel can cost quite a bit, however you can run those on used cooking oil. filtered a bit, of course.

Anyways I still stand by investing it. If you think there should be no problems selling the truck to someone then why are you even selling it?

I don't know if you'd get that much, but go ahead and try. How old are these used cars are you looking at that you think you can get one for $1375? (Or maybe you're including your $3800, but you shouldn't put all your money down, especially if you're still going to have to make monthly payments.)

Early - Late 90's.

And the truck gets about 16mpg.. reasonable for a diesel, but I am looking for better fuel economy especially since gas prices seem to be going back up and its scary.

I would also like something that ain't so damn hard to start when it gets cold, also the truck has runaway on me once, and that is a pain in the ass!

Should put it in a high-interest account and make it work for you.

I wouldn't spend money on something that is stupidly expensive (unless out of necessity), only to realise when I've got no money that it was a irrational purchase.

As most are suggesting, just keep it in a bank account or something, chances are, that truck will fall apart within 5 years anyways(Well, if you actually use that thing)

OR If you really want a nice truck, look around and shop for one(Can probably get a rather nice truck for 3800$ that might be better than what you could do to that one in the end)

Are some of you trying to screw him over? I sure wouldn't want to invest in the stock market at a time like this! Try a savings account at the bank. Or a credit union would work too. I personally think you should avoid the stock market right now. It's very high risk at the moment. Could be just as bad as blowing all the money at a casino!

There's ALWAYS good stocks and bad stocks, just as there is ALWAYS a risk. Even when the stock market was in the 14,000 range some people still lost money on it. Just like now some people are still making money on it.

Also its always been high risk and it will always be. You stand more chance at making a profit at stocks then in a casino where the house holds the advantage on every game asides blackjack which you only got a 2% better chance at anyways.
