If you’re looking to have the experience of using an infant formula for your bottle, and don’t want to use the real stuff, you can have fun simply using a full cream powdered milk, and mix it up the way you like.

I'm a formula person myself, but when I can't get formula I try for chocolate milk. Around here it's everywhere. I have also heard of pulverizing fruit but I have never really looked into it.

I enjoy the idea of formula, but... When my kids were little, I couldn't resist trying one of their bottles, and BLECH! It did bring back memories though--of visiting the city park when I was little and drinking from an old rusty drinking fountain. :) (Maybe I'd have enjoyed the regular formula better instead of the super iron-fortified stuff.)

Most of the time, I put herbal tea in my bottles--orange or mint, sometimes with a bit of honey. I know. Totally an un-little mashup. If I want to feel littler, I do warm milk (cow or soy).

I tend to like the real formula. The Enfamil NeuroPro is very drinkable to me as the lower level I drink. They have an Enfamil Enspire that's supposed to be closer to breast milk that's sweeter and my actual favorite. Until recently I hadn't seen that one even available much in the past year. They seem to be getting past the formula shortages from what I've seen and it's available again. (The blue container version, not the purple).

Not every baby formula is good, I've gotten a sample pack from Enfamil before and most of them taste horrible! I've tried a couple other brands and had the same experience. Never tried the offbrand store stuff, I have a feeling at least one or two get close.

I suppose the real analog for adult formula though would have to be something like ensure.

Where do you buy your formula from? And do you use store brand at all? Also when your formula do you us it as a meal substitute.

Grocery Store, Walmart, Costco? Costco actually is the most affordable for the NeuroPro. I've never seen them carry the Enspire unfortunately.

I've never tried the store brands, it's a treat generally, so I'll pay for name brand there. Rarely is it a full on substitute, sometimes I'll do a bottle and a pouch of baby food oatmeal/apples for a breakfast. On a weekend I'll treat it like a baby who has solids first and finishes their meal with their bottle.

I have found them to be a bit lacking. the taste can be off as they substitute ingredients.

yes. I like a smaller breakfast so i often have 8oz in the morning. I also add them in just as snacks and not meals.

One thing to keep in mind is the calories you intake. make sure that you are giving your body what it needs. for me 8oz of formula is only 160 of 1800 that my body needs. but my bottle time makes sure that i get the vitamins and minerals that I need (this baby isn't good about taking his supplements).

I know you didn't ask, but i want to put this out there just in case. using the right size nipple helps. Formula is most enjoyable when it is only tasted by the back half of your tung. the tip of your tung is where you taste bitterness and alike. it's made this way to allow you to taste if something is bad to eat. So, be mindful and spend some time finding a bottle setup that works for you.

I've tried similac before and it just ended up giving me stomach cramps, lol. I just stick to warm milk now and have always been happy.

I love formula. I don't drink it regularly, but always when we play baby games. Nothing better than having a warm bottle and put in the playpen or play with my Thomas trains...😊

Sorry to hear that. I remember one of the off brands did that to me, and that was no fun.

In the end it doesn't matter what you puts in to a bottle as log as you feel that wonderful relaxed, and comforted feeling that we all love.
