I wear Abu bunny hops and I was wondering how long can I stay in a diaper after I wet without causing skin issues and how many wetting can a diaper take before it needs changing? I am struggling today so don’t really want to leave my bed unless it’s to change but I don’t want to get a nasty rash or anything

It depends, if you take the proper precautions you should be fine for a while, applying diaper rash cream and powder beforehand helps preventing a rash.
I have spent a whole night sleeping with no problem in this instance (8+ hours)
However, if you start to feel any discomfort while wearing, it may be time to change.

It really is all relative, so if you use any kind of diaper cream like desitin or even lotion or vaseline it prolong your skins ability to fight a rash because it puts a barrier between the wetness and your skin. I go regularly about 4-8 hours(depending on how much I wet) without skin issues as far as diaper rash goes if I use desitin. If you don't have a barrier cream I would say 3-4 hours max. As for the diaper and how much a bunny hop can hold, its rated for 6000ml which is probably 4-5 wettings maximum. Again this is all depending on you, do you flood or dribble, is the fit correct, etc.

Do you think sudocrem would work as a barrier? It can be used for rashes I believe

I usually go many hours in a wet diaper. Lower capacity (after work diapers) I'll wear wet for 6 or so hours, and the mega diapers (weekend diapers) I'll usually wear for 12-14 hours. No barrier cream, only time I ever get a rash is from a mess, and those I'll change out of almost immediately

As an IC you should have some idea as to what your time lines are and what volume your choice in diapers are provideding

As a long time 24/7, U-IC, I have long know what volume of the diapers I use are capable of handling and how many changes during the day or night, I will need. Also, as stated above, using a barrier cream and powder helps.

I am guess you are attempting IC and are experimenting with extended diaper use. If so, I recommend that you look first at day time use and look at what volumes you are releasing at any given time and adjusting the capacity of the diaper you are using. You would be further ahead to be changing more often than pushing the capacity of your diaper. Over wetting may feel good, but leaks are a problem. Diaper rash is not a game and can be damaging to you skin if you are not working hard to stay ahead of its development. Here again, it is changing more often and obtaining and using a quality diaper rash cream /paste.

Remember that your skin is different and you should never hope that not wearing a barrier will be okay. Clearing-up a serous diaper rash can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and can be very painful!

I’ve only ever wet myself a single time then changed so I am uncertain how many times you can go in them, since they are expensive I don’t want to be changing them 4 to 5 times a day. I will figure iut how much they can hold

With the Betterdry brand , I usually wear them for 8 hours at a time. I wet multiple times, small voids, dribbles, my diaper wicks the wetness evenly.
If I use a different brand such as Trest Elites or NRU Str8ups, I can go past 8 hours, It varies greatly with diaper brand how long you can use it continously. I hope this helps.🙂

That makes sense. Most diapers will provide on the packaging the targeted capacity of the diaper or number of hours. That will give you some idea of capacity of the diaper. With a measuring cup, determine your average void. This will provide you a fairly good idea as to the number of releases your diaper will hold.

How often you change your diaper has much to do with where and how long you will be out and about while wearing your diaper. Commonly, the longer you will be out, the more important it is to start with a dry diaper and have some idea of how long it will providing you protection.

Nighttime diapers are commonly the largest and most expensive as the goal is to provide a long and restful sleep without leak and this group of high-capacity diapers are in the 8 to 12 hour wear time. FYI: Long wear time require that you will be using powder and a barrier cream to limit diaper rash.

This will get you started.
Enjoy!

I figured out that I can safely use it for 5 hours and three lots of pee before it starts to leak. I did the last pee on the bathroom as I had a feeling it may leak a little but I’m happy with the capacity. 5 hours of not worrying is cool, that’s means I’m happy to try going out in my nappy now as I’m never out more than 5 hours.

I use Northface Megamax currently, and I got about 10-12 hours depends on how full it is. If it’s getting not much use I usually powder again and go till night when I change.

It really depends how sensitive your skin and how fast your diaper whisk the urine away . I mostly use premium diapers like MagaMax ,Crinkz or Better Drys .
They seems to work very well for me anyway !

I usually use Tena proskin maxi or Egosan ultra diapers at night. They stay on for 7-12 hours. These are not plastic back. I don't use powder or cream, so far there have been no problems.

I use staydrys at the beginning of the day, because I know I will mess and these are the best for me for that scenario, then change to mega max or str8ups which will last about 12 hours…

For me it largely depends on where I'm at. If I'm at the house by myself I have no problem going all day wearing the same wet diaper. However, if I'm out and about I try to be more conscious regarding changing. But that's why I have different diapers for different occasions. My night time and all day diapers are bulky and designed for maximum capacity. My daytime ones are lighter and thinner since I don't plan on pushing them to capacity.

My impression is that everybody is different. I can wear my wet nappy for hours and never get a rash. The only exception for me is if I wear my wet night-time terry nappy long into the morning it can get a bit sore. But going straight back into a nappy afterwards (which I have to) after a thorough clean-up and whatever skin cream I'm using at the time never seems to be a problem. If I mess my nappy I change pretty quickly because I know that's asking for trouble but even then if I really can't change quickly I rarely get anything mroe than a few hours soreness.

I'd love to know if people's tendency to a rash varies. Some people are resistant like me? Are there any special other circumstances that bring on a rash more?

You can stay in it until it leaks. Skin break down due to urine isn’t really a concern for people that only occasionally wear a wet diaper for a long time more so for incon people.

A lot of it for me is what liquids I'm consuming during the day. If I know I'm going to wear at night I'll try to cut out all coffee and drink straight water if at all possible. Also, don't pee right after 8 hours of sleeping, or first thing in the morning despite wanting to more than any other time of day probably, it's really concentrated at that point.
