I bet we all have dreamt about the perfect diaper.
• How is the pattern? Plain white, animals, shapes, Very colorfull
• What about the tapes? Two, four, with velcro, plastic, easy to untape..
• Let's talk about thickness. Padded on the back, front, equally distribuited?
• Plastic or clothed? Some like cloth based, some think "Life in plastic is fantastic"
• How much it would hold? >5000ml between 6000 and 8000. More??
• You like It very noisy or quiet?

Let's play!

I have two styles, both are similarish.

Diaper style:
Disney characters for both boys and girls, things like Toy Story characters or princesses and what not. White base, blue base, green base, pink based, red based (really just an assortment of colours and characters.

Of course inside leg guards like on the megamax

Tapes: I really own two tapes, I don’t like the 4 tape style, I can over get the bottom one snug enough and it’s annoying. I just want one tape pre side. Maybe with a bit of stretch.

Thickness: as thick as you can make and also a lite version too for more discrete wearing.

Plastic or Cloth: both? Maybe the lite version is cloth while the max version is plastic.

Capacity: again, max version is maxed out like most ABDL diapers. Lite version would be a lot like Tena ultra maybe a bit more.

Noise: max version will be super noisy, lite version will be quieter.

Frame of reference: max version would be like megamax but with two tapes and the lite version would be like Tena ultra stretch but with leg channels.

Then there is the pull up version. Basically like an adult version of goodnites but with the same Disney designs.

That’s my dream.

Since I started wearing 24/7 for dual ic, over 7 years ago, my estimation of what makes a perfect diaper has went through several iterations. Initially I tried using store brand disposable pull-ups followed by higher quality pull-ups. It didn’t take more than a couple of months before I had transitioned to 4 tape “briefs” but they were laying waste to my SSDI fixed income so I decided to try cloth diapers, with which my wife and I had diapered our children so economically. In spite of their high initial cost the cotton gauze contour diapers that I ordered worked well and proved more economical in the long term. A few years later I tried prefolds in both cotton gauze and Birdseye and have found them even more effective at preventing leaks although I wear them primarily at home and wear the contours when out and about. Although I use the 10 ply gauze soakers, or doublers, I found that adding a folded terry hand towel made fecal cleanup far easier in the contours and later the prefolds. To the soakers and hand towel I started adding a folded terry bath towel as an additional soaker. By unfolding these terry towels in the front and back to form a “V”, while keeping them folded between my legs, it makes a containment area for urine and feces helping to prevent leaks, especially when I sleep on my side. These “V’s” also prevent the mess from moving forward and have kept me from getting the UTIs I once had been prone to getting. My choice of diaper covers have gone through many changes through this time as well as have my diaper fastening methods (switching from varieties of 3” stainless safety pins to Snappi(s)). Function is far more important to me than any DL feelings that I might have towards my butt wrappers and I find that I’m very thankful for the myriad of choices available for ic management in our society today.

I’m really easy. I would take the Seni Quatro and add better tapes, make a little thicker and rise a little higher in the back. But other than that, I love that diaper.

I picture my perfect diaper fitting snuggly, very full front and rear coverage, very good wicking and absorbency, a nice thick but soft plastic and should hug my body.

For me the perfect diaper was already made, however they no longer make it. It was Huggies Baby Steps for Girls from the mid 90's. Everything about them was perfect. They were plastic, light pink with darker pink polka dots, fun pictures on the landing zone. Soft inside, pink stand-up leg guards. Elastic front and back. They will hold 2 adult wettings very easily and swell up so much the plastic seems to stretch. Even sleeping on my side with no leaks. I still have about a half a package left so I don't wear them much anymore.

Here's mine:
Pattern: RGB design for the PC builders
Tapes: 2 tape or 6 tape design
Thickness: really thick. I don't necessarily mean super high capacity, but I choose super thick and poofy. A diaper that's super poofy to the touch, like a down pillow.
Plastic. Very soft plastic like Trest Elites, or Wellness briefs.
Capacity: I'll make the 6 taped hold 8,500ml and the 2 taped 7,000ml.
Noise: They'll both be designed to be just as noisy as an old school DRY 247.
Special features: I want a waistband that goes all the way around your diaper. The diaper will be held tight with your tapes, but will have a snuggier 360° fit all around your waist.
Special features, cont.: I will have 3 different fruity scents to choose from. Apple, lime, and berry. All the flavors of RGB.
Special accommodations: Will be available in every size. XS, S, M, XM, L, XL.
I shall call them the RGB Clouds.

My perfect nappy would be plastic backed, which makes a loud crinkle under my clothes. I would like it to have a nice strong scent to help cover the smell of what I'm going to be doing. I also would like the capacity to be good, so I can wear it for a good long time, with out changing. I prefer 4 tapes to 2. and as for the pattern I would like it to be pretty little dolls and toys.

My dream would be plain white, with velcro tapes, stretchy sides, tall leak guards, plastic backed, very crinkly, and very absorbent, 10,000 ml :D

My favorite feature though is velcro tapes! I love the ones Rearz uses on their Mermaid Tales, they work so well for me.

Tapes: 2 wide elastic (1 on each side)
Thickness: semi-discrete
Plastic. i'am more going to a cotton-feel or Hybride
Capacity: 3000ml to 3500ml
Noise: quiet
Special features: just like Pampers, a 3 lane absorption, care lotions to prevent rashes
Special features, cont.: elastic band at the front and super fast moisture absorption.
(because of a good fit and fast absorption, anti-leak edges are unnecessary)
Special accommodations:
Available in sizes XS < 15yrs - < 80cm
S 16 - 18yrs 80 - 95cm M 18-20yrs 90-105cm L 20+yrs 100-110cm

I have two that I think about.

The first one is plastic backed with about 4000-5000ml capacity. It has 2 adhesive tapes but it would fit me better than other 2-tape diapers. The print would be positional printed with adult Simba on the front and a fern or tropical leaves on the back.

The other one is also a plastic backed adhesive 2-tape with the same fit although the plastic is smoother and a bit more shiny. The capacity would be 6000-7000ml and it would be positional printed with a baby dragon wearing a diaper on both the front and back. Sometimes I imagine this diaper as one that has infinite capacity but can't be taken off

Pattern: Positionally printed with 2 shades of baby blue (boys version) and 2 shades of pink (girls version).
Tapes: 4 sticky tapes (if it's plastic-backed) or 4 hook and loop tapes (if it's cloth-backed).
Thickness: Equally thick throughout the diaper.
Plastic or Cloth: Could be either one.
Capacity: Over 5000ml.
Noise: Noisy (if it's plastic-backed) or quiet (it it's cloth-backed).
Special features: Baby blue leak guards (boys version) and pink leak guards (girls version).

I'd flip flop those leak guard colors.

My perfect Nappy would be
Fits very discretely
Plastic backed
No noise of crinkles
Very absorbant app 5 litres
Would efficiently wick
Would have two really strong and reusable tapes each side
Plain white
Good at retaining all that was thrown at 1 and #2
Very nicely contoured for a perfect fit
Extremely soft and comfortable all day

Those are off the top of my head so there would be a few other requirements such as cost bulk etc.

LittleKings/AlphaGatorZ and Waddler/Overnight are very close but:

-wider fit, current LK/AG narrow really quickly around the butt and feel like a bikini cut pullup and don't feel as diaperish as W/ON.

-cloth version tabs spot welded instead of adhesive to the cloth. And stretchy sides. If you make a cloth like diaper to mimic a modern baby diaper you should go all the way.

-plastic back version with positional printed landing zone and adhesive tapes. Printed landing strip is like quintessential baby diaper.

-single tapes scaled up proportionally to be the same size relative as a baby diaper so would be like 3x4" tapes which would also be tall enough to fit adult bodies similarly to 2 tapes. Currently diapers get bigger but tapes stay the same size and just keep splitting into more same size small tapes spread out instead of proportionally scaling the original tape

-uniform thickness, front is always super thin on padding and swelling vs middle and rear despite being where most of the fun happens

-tall front and rear scrunchy waistbands and foam a must

-tall leak guards, want to be able to feel them and be unmistakably 'diaper' when moving. Plastic lined leak guards used to be a thing too, now they are all clothy.

-more colorful on the inside; one place abdl diapers lack is always being plain white and too sterile and medical ish on the inside. Need contrasting baby blue/pink/teal leak guards, waistbands, top sheet, etc.

-a fit more like a baby diaper; taller in the back and droopy roomy butt and saggy crotch while still being almost too tight against the legs.

-padding pulled back a bit away from the concave edges

-crinkly

-pampers smell

-a few other things I forgot

Depends on the circumstances. For work reasonably discrete thickness but with strategically placed inserts down in the crotch so they don't bulge too much but give me lasting capacity. And I often just change the pads rather than the whole nappy. This is just practical and not my ideal of course.
Otherwise during the day a high capacity white disposable, plastic with crinkles and probably a couple of inserts, preferably baby terry nappies for the feel. I want this nappy to really bulge when it's wet, especially in front. I just think white is babyish and of course it makes any colour change obvious when it's wet or poopy.
At night I really love thick terry nappies folded so there's plenty of thickness in front which often means with boosters. I also love a shaped terry nappy with extra terry in the middle and a pocket - I have a couple of old Arizona nappies like this. The pocket can take a huge insert like a 48" terry nappy square folded lenghtwise into three. Massive and so comfortable.
I use plastic pants over cloth of course but also over my thick disposables. Sometimes at work too if I think there could be long intervals between changes. All my plastic pants are made of clear plastic so I (or daddy) can see exactly what's going on underneath.
