I am a DL. I discovered that when I suggested diapers to my wife for convenience because of a medical condition.
Once back home after a computer tomography she had an allergic reaction to a contrasting agent. She had to drink a lot to flush the agent but also had a fever and strong fatigue and couldn't get up to pee. I diapered her. She peed in her diaper. She slept and the next morning her diapers were almost leaking. My wife was glad for my help.
Now she wears diapers every night. To get up to pee is difficult for her and it wakes her up. She said thanks to diapers her sleep is better. She doesn't love diapers but she thinks they help her. Most days, especially when going out, but sometimes at home, too, she also has diapers. She said she is less stressed about going to the bathroom. She is not so sure about not being at least mildly incontinent in any case. She has different medical conditions and also treatment has the side effect of possible incontinence. I suggested to discuss incontinence with her gynecolocist in two years.
We are lucky, my wife has a husband lovingly caring for her even if she should become incontinent and I have a beautiful wife with diapers. I told her I would love her without diapers as well.
We have children and I am nervous about wearing diapers around them because I don't have a medical condition. My wife does. So I had a short talk with our older son, and my wife wears diapers whenever she thinks they are helpful.
I find it a bit annoying that the categories AB and DL are lumped together. I respect people who need to be in their little space but it terrifies me somewhat. I am sorry for that. It doesn't help that AB is extremely taboo. Diapers are also taboo because of a different management of bodily excretions the majority doesn't really support. Case in point: Even medically incontinent people try to hide their diapers. People pity people needing diapers and are disgusted.
But diapers have upsides, too: they are comfortable and take stress away. Before colonoscopy I had to take a laxative for five days before the prep. During this time some farts became sharts without a warning and that would have stressed me but during that time I just switched to 24/7 and it was relaxing.
But who I am to tell this, me being a DL.
