Hello,

The past thirteen years have been a wild ride.

In 1995, I set up a website dedicated to distributing information on paraphilic infantilism and diaper fetishes. It was actually through a typo that I became connected with the online community, but that is another story. Back then, the website was called "BitterGrey's Den." Over time, the Internet grew. I began seeking contributions so the website could provide more than one perspective. To advertise this, the name was changed to "Understanding Infantilism." This is important because, while none of us are alone, we are all unique.

The second step was almost as accidental as the typo. In 2006 I found that the Wikipedia article on infantilism had been cut down to a footnote and a presentation about pedophilia. An article that I was getting ready for Understanding Infantilism was adapted as a new starting point. There was much debating. The first three months of arguing was with the folks who removed the previous article. They accepted the new one after parts of it had enough references, and the other parts had been cut. After that, the debates continued, but with different people. This new group each had radically different impressions about who AB/DLs were. Not surprisingly, each thought they were the true AB/DL. Unfortunately, some were actually quite viscous. (I too tend to think of things in my own terms, which is why I invited different perspectives onto the website before, and tried to find neutral grounds on Wikipedia. )

This, of course, led to the next stage in this ride. This stage was actually planned. It involved a series of surveys. The first one is nearing it's close, and the second should start up in a month or so. There have been many surveys before, but they averaged all the data together, to come up with the average AB/DL. This new survey series would correlate data, to get an accurate image of who we as AB/DLs are. It would show what we have in common, and how we differ. Hopefully, this will provide a still broader perspective.

By the way, you can call me "Terry" or more commonly "Grey" for short. (However, I will not tell you what the "B" stand for. After all, I still need to keep some secrets!)

Welcome! Bittergrey (I don't think I could ever think of you as Terry *giggles*)!!!

Seriously, your site was the FIRST site I went to when I was first introduced to infantilism back in 2001 (okay it was the site my friend took me to in order to explain HIS infantilistic ways). As is obvious, I guess, I embraced it whole-heartedly!

I used to link to your site from mine...back in the day (2002-2005)...(former owner of "Aya's Playroom" a rather mundane site which had an unusually large following)

Welcome again and again!!!

Hi Grey!

Although I'm not familiar with your site, I've been perusing it the past few minutes before responding to this, and I must say, there's a lot there that I'm looking forward to reading and getting to know. You have a very educated point of view on this whole mindset of ours, and I'm excited to look into it further with your words!

Welcome to the forums, and do make yourself welcome!

Wow BitterGrey! I am aw struck, it is an honor to have you on this site my friend! Your site was used to help my parents understand it better when they found out about it six years ago! Also before you joined this site, many people would suggest your site as using it to help people better understand this topic. So not only have you helped me and my parents understand it better, but so many other THOUSANDS of people. I think maybe more than you realize.

So Anyways...a great big welcome my good friend! I hope to see you around!
I will make sure to take that survery too, right now!

 Welcome, your highness, we are so very glad that you have chosen to become part of this site, wonderful online community which many, like me, call home away from home.

Welcome to the fold :D Back in the day when DPF was the biggest game in town, I came across your site and it was a revelation. In those days I mostly lurked around... You showed that DPF did not represent all diaper-fetishists, that there were people with other approaches. You are most welcome. *oldgreyraccoon waddles off to make iced tea and cookies*

Can I welcome you two times? I just remembered that I used your site when I introduced my (online) Daddy to Infantilism too. I knew that if there was going to be a site that would give him straight answers and no confusion it'd be "Bittergrey's Den"!! (yeah I know it's a different name now, but still...)

Anyway...thanks so much...and welcome again! :)

You created the most valuable resource for explaining to others, esp. parents what infantilism is (and is not) all about, that I know of; you'll find several mentions of http://understanding.infantilism.org/ on this site.

I have started asking around recently about information helpful to assessing how many *b/dl's are likely to be in a given area. You may find this project interesting, especially as the numbers depend on the definition of what we are looking for. Many members have described how their the fetish relates to them; I am sure you have new points of view to describe to us. :D

Wow. Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Thanks. You are most generous.

I fully agree that people need to keep what they are looking for in mind. Learning more about the local demographics of AB/DLs might be problematic. These problems might come from outside hackers, as was the case with the Babfur Proximity Locator . (It hopes to get back online after tightening security.) Sadly, these problems might also come from within the AB/DL community, as too many of us have experienced firsthand.

That written, how can I help?

I'll toss in a nickel!
I'll hold out for cookies! Arrrr!

The typo.

Welcome Terry :) Glad you decided to drop by :)

In college, I was doing some programming on some IBM workstations. They ran AIX, a version of UNIX. (My love of LINUX is probably rooted in this experience.) These systems had a graphical user interface (then recently usurped as "Windows" TM). However, the way to do things fast was through the command line interface. Commands are still more powerful, but prone to typos.

Anyway, the command to delete a file was "remove", abbreviated "rm." I accidentally entered "rn" once. That is, "read news." This fired up an old usenet newsreader. Thousands upon thousands of news groups scrolled across the screen. They scrolled by too quickly for any normal human to read.

This is where Freudian fixations come in. Freud might not have been the first to assert that minds can specifically sharpen senses to find what they consider important, but his name stuck to the idea. The text was scrolling across the screen too quickly for any normal human to read. However, I'm not normal - I'm a paraphilic infantilist. In a classic case of Freudian fixation, I could read one word clearly: diapers.

That word was in the title to the usenet group alt.sex.fetish.diapers. It was predated by a forum on Compuserve, and is now mired in spam, but back then, it was the primary online network for AB/DLs. I eventually found a better newsreader and subscribed. Then I got a browser set up, and taught myself HTML. The rest is history.
