"Good news, you can pick it"

Seems like some people here think I just listen to highly repetitive electronic music. True, but only to a small degree. I won't deny it's what I listen to often, but only because I wish to savour the taste of the tracks I really love.

For the record, here's a definitive list of my top 20 tracks in order, one entry per artist:

20. Joy Electric - Monosynth

19. Primal Scream - Kill All Hippies

18. Dream Academy - Life In A Northern Town

17. Powderfinger - My Happiness

16. Savage Garden - I Want You

15. Duran Duran - A View to a Kill

14. The Knife - Heartbeats

13. Rammstein - Mein Teil

12. Autechre - Teartear

11. Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park (Best I could find. :( Album version is what I like)

10. Tears for Fears - Mad World

9. Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine

8. Ulver - Lost In Moments

7. The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist

6. Air - Electronic Performers

5. M83 - Unrecorded

4. Boards of Canada - Triangles & Rhombuses

3. Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

2. Daft Punk - Around The World

...and my favourite recording of all-time:
1. Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over

Surprised, huh? :detective3

There's actual bands on the list!

Not only will I give you my favourite songs, I will also tell you why!
You gotta listen to the songs though.

YouTube - Sublime - What I Got
YouTube - Sublime Santeria
Two of the most well known songs by my favourite band. They never made it big, due to the lead singer dying in 96 I believe. The album these two songs are on was released shortly after the singer's death, and that's when people finally started noticing. Kind of sad how this level of musical genious was cut short so soon. Rip it up, Brad.

YouTube - Long Beach Dub Allstars - Sunny Hours
The surviving members of Sublime formed this band, then broke up a few years later. This song was their greatest hit, and it's easy to see why. It's about overcoming adversity, standing up when everyone else wants you to sit down. And it sounds awesome too. Nice chill song.

YouTube - Spirit - Pinch Me
My favourite song by Barenaked Ladies. Pinch Me is the biggest nostalgia-inducing trip in the world for me. Not because I heard it when I was little. But because of the sound of the song and the lyrics. It sounds like a dream you might have during a hazy afternoon nap, if you get what I'm saying. And the lyrics tell a story about being bored at home, but not wanting to go out, and instead running through the sprinkler and stuff like that. It brings back memories of when I was 12 years old, hanging out at my friend's house, playing hide and seek, and, yea, running through his sprinklers.

YouTube - Symbol in my driveway
If you listen, in the beginning of the song you can hear people talking and having a good time over the background noise of waves on a beach. Perfect song to play while everyone's eating in a sea-side cafe.

YouTube - Jack Johnson - Upside Down: Final Stereo Version
This was the first song I ever heard by Jack Johnson. Great artist, and the only man in the world who can sing underwater.

YouTube - Jack Johnson - Taylor
Great music video.

YouTube - Matt Costa - Let It Be Sung
This is the chillest song on this list. If you listen to only one song, let it be this one.

YouTube - Puddle Of Mud - Psycho (Official Music Video & Lyrics)
This song became a hit back in 2007, when I was 16. It was played constantly over the radio, and me and my buddies would hear it as we aimlessly drove around town. We knew all the words. I remember waking up one morning, after a particular hard night of parting, and sitting on the back porch of my friend's house with some chick who was having a cig. And we sang the song together. Now when I hear it it brings back memories of good times before it all turned to shit.
