Ever notice that baby diapers have different wings to adult diapers?

Has you ever noticed how baby diapers have wings that look to be a completely separate component added onto the diaper in manufacturing, and that the wing component is shaped, contoured. It has purposeful curves that give it that very distinct babyish look most of us remember from our own infancy in the 80's and 90's.

Look at this for example, you can see the highly contoured, shaped yet minimal wing design where the green double arrow is:

Compare this to an adult diaper that basically makes its wearer look like an order from the local fish 'n chip shop with its excessive paper looking wings with its aggressively square edges overlapping and poking out every which way:

I just wish there was something more closely approximating the design of a genuine baby diaper like Pampers in the ABDL world of diapers.

I know some people have mentioned before that babies have different shaped bodies etc but you could still make an adult diaper with similarly profiled wings, I just haven't seen anyone do it yet. Have you ever seen an adult diaper like the shown Pampers?

Because us adults are bigger
it takes more than 1 small tape to hold a diaper on for us
Not to mention the extra weight after its wet
but someone invents a diaper like that and holds up for adult needs they are going to be rich!

Well sure, if you scale up the diaper for adult sizes then surely you scale up the tape size too. Relative to the diaper the tape size to diaper ratio looks consistent to me with adult diapers. So I don't really see that being a problem. And there are 1 tape adult diapers out there. Tykables went a step further in their design wwith their hook and loop system, basically it is like a velcro which would work fine for this design also.

I've tried multiple 1 tape per side abdl diapers and while they look cute they just don't hold up or fit correctly for me

Bambino came close with the Magnifico and Bianco ultra stretch. Unfortunately these stretch out too far as one wets them requiring adjusting to the point where the tapes overlap.

Those look really decent, not quite Pampers but a really nice babyish aesthetic on the front with those tapes. I will have to see if I can get myself some. Thanks!

Babies don’t have testicles that have dropped, and don’t need the extra space that males do.

I do too. I can't see any reason why an adult-sized version of modern Pampers wouldn't be awesome. Those Bambino diapers are close, as are the Tena Stretch diapers. I've not had any problem with the Bambino Magnifico and I love the print.

Velcro. If the tabs aren't sticky, they're hook-and-loop.

What Cottonntail said, it basically is just Velcro. Look up the Tykables brand, I believe they all use the velcro tapes, but if not then check the Unicorns because I know that they most definitely do. I believe there is some other brand out there that uses them too, I just don't remember which one it was, it has dinosaurs on it.

OK...you must realize that the separate wings on baby diapers IS a "relatively" new concept, right? I mean, they didn't exist even when my sons (now in their early 20s) were in diapers and most certainly not way back when I was in Pampers.

With adult diapers the less separate connections the better! Every single connection (adding additional pieces to the production process) is a leak just BEGGING to happen at the worst imaginable time. The absolute last thing I ever want to see in adult diapers is another seam!

I also must add that going from 4 tapes to two is the exact opposite of how I would build an adult diaper. ANYONE who ever wore an old 6 tape Attends diaper can attest to how superior that fit was, comfort was, leak protection was ..... Now I know they were nowhere near as absorbent as today's better disposable diapers, but they still never leaked until they were overfull, unlike a lot of today's diapers do despite being able to physically absorb 2-10x as much.

Actually the strange thing is when I try to find baby diapers from the 80's and 90's they just don't look like how I remember them. Maybe in my mind I am misremembering them somehow, like a Mandela affect?

Not saying that is how Pampers makes them but it could be (or the adult upscaled version could be) made using an additional component over the base layer giving it that false appearance just to bulk it up. In that case the original backing continues with that shape with another piece over the top. If Pampers are not made that way then there is no reason an adult upscaled like diaper could not do that, an ABDL diaper does not have to be a 100% accurate replica, and for legal reasons that would probably a good thing.

You might be right, though my personal experience is 4 is too many, and adding more takes up more room so they end up making them smaller which increases chances of them unsticking or even tearing the backing which I have had happen to me over the years. In my experience less tapes that are much larger hold better and don't unstick as much.

If the one tape would be the relative size it should work. I think it would be also more comfortable to wear especially when being active.

Cheers

It’s because of hip structure. As we grow older, our hip structure and pelvic area in general shifts and changes. The bones fuse together and causes enough of a shift to change the shape of our bodies. It’s enough of a difference to necessitate adult diapers be made differently than baby diapers to better suit our bodies.

I'd say the Molicare Premium Elastic are pretty similar to (modern) baby diapers in terms of cut and tapes.

The spot welding Little Kings and AlphaGatorZ tapes need to ensure the tape is permanently fused to the wing and not just the loose cotton candy veneer that just stretches off.

Or any adult diaper tapes really. Adhesive only tape tabs sliding off the rear wing seems to be a common problem with many adult diapers that was solved a long time ago in baby diapers.

Interesting, so you are saying that the baby diapers already solved these problems despite what other people are saying, the baby diapers are actually superior in build? They certainly (to my eyes at least) look superior.

And I tend to agree, I have had adult diapers tapes tear away from the wings like that, most infuriating.

If you scale down the adult diapers to baby size you would still have the same problems, seeing as Pampers do not have these problems they clearly must have solved them. So I think you are very correct.

if we applied the same solutions to an adult size that Pampers did then I can't see why they would suddenly be a problem when they work so well for Pampers yet many adult diaper brands have terrible tapes and weak wings.
