ok kids, sit down and take notes. i'm the bus driver and i'm taking you kids to school!
ok, the reason why i did this was a. because i love this genre of music and b, because i've been trying to think of a way to explain it's nuances to the masses while still being entertaining and maybe expose a few new people to this type of music.
ok, hardcore music was developed in the mid to late 80's spawning from acid and industrial music. you might know it in it's modern day forms as rave, "techno", happycore (or happy hardcore), or gabber. they're different subgenres but they're all related.
the core (hehe) of hardcore music lies around it's distorted 909 kick drum. there is no substitute. this mixed with funky drum loops (oldskool), punk music (digitalcore), or metal riffs (metalcore; go figure) makes for a pretty versatile genre.
