Does your doctor/ psych know?

Has anyone told their doctor/psychiatrist about being ABDL?

Not that ABDL is a medical condition in itself, but I’m wondering if it could change how they treat you.

My doctor knows I wear diapers, but he thinks it’s for my IBS and urge incontinence. Which is partly true, but I also wear them because I’m ABDL.

Would you go to a Dr with knee pain and then withhold the true cause of the injury? That was the reasoning behind me sharing my diaper desires with my therapist: it's part of me, I was ashamed of it, that shame added to my depression, etc. It was liberating and I'm so thankful I shared it with her.

I’ve considered asking for a prescription from my gastroenterologist. I know my insurance covers it.

While I’ve never told a doctor, I have told both psychotherapists I’ve seen. This side of myself was really difficult to accept and I was having such a hard time with it. Since it was one of the reasons (and the second time round the primary reason) for reaching out, I had to tell them. And I’m glad I did. Since then, it’s really helped me embrace this side of myself.

My psychiatrist now knows i do it because it helps me manage my mental health. He is supportive of it.

Welp. I did it. I just messaged my doctor and asked for a prescription for adult diapers due to my IBS and bowel incontinence. I’ll update here when I hear back.

All my doctors know . I was upfront with them from the first appointment that I wear and use diapers. There was one time I had used my diaper while I was being examined by insights doctors and she asked if I would need a change. I didn't want her to see my rearz safari I was wearing

She did end up seeing the safari to which the doctor replied omg that is such a cool diaper. Most of my doctors have been really chill with my abdl diapers, they just ask why do my diapers have a print on them

My therapist, my gastroenterologist, orthopedic surgeon and my gp doctor all know. My gastroenterologist prescribed me diapers due to my IBS even though she knows I’m ABDL. My GP doctor knows I’m ABDL and saw my binky and Rearz Princess Pink. My orthopedic surgeon doesn’t know I’m ABDL but he knows I’m 24/7. When I woke up from elbow surgery the nurse said my diaper was wet and asked if I needed help. I told her no. I was too shy.

Absolutely, but i'm also permanently IC so i wear 24/7, my Dr has examined me lots of times while i am diapered in thick ABDL diapers, usually just says nice diaper etc.

The closest thing I've said is "I do age regression to age 2" to my therapist. She thought it was healthy as long as it didn't stop me from participating in what I needed to do for my life (which is funny, because it actually enables me to do so). She also thought it was interesting because she was telling me about these personality archetypes that are formed at age 2, she said it was actually quite smart to go back to that age in an attempt to re-live my childhood in a healthy way, giving myself what I never got before. I didn't say that me at age 2 isn't toilet trained, but I think that's not a strictly required detail, personally heheh

also I work in healthcare, if I saw one of you all as my patient i would just tell you your diaper has a cute pattern (and might secretly want to ask you where you got it).

That's the one thing I haven't told my psychologist. When I had my first meeting, I told him that I had a psychiatrist when I was in college and my mom had made the appointment for three reasons. I was having a psychotic break so she searched my room looking for drugs I suppose, but found my gay porn and make-shirt diapers. I had to discuss both being gay and being AB/DL with the psychiatrist as well as being suicidal. So when I related this to my psychologist I told him about the psychotic break and having a boyfriend all through college but I said I wasn't ready to discuss the third thing. I haven't as yet but I may eventually.
