I think blunt honesty is so much more fun than sarcasm, but I certainly use Sarcasm if the situation calls for it.

What I *really* don't like is when people don't understand that you're being sarcastic... that's enough to make me want to tear my head off ):

Well, I'm American...

So unless that was sarcasm (it would be rather awkwardly phrased sarcasm), no. Actually, I've had less success with sarcasm with people living over on the other side of the world -- Asians, English folk, German people, the French, and so on.

I think Sarcasm is the native tongue here, actually.

Of course, that's not to say I've never talked to someone who was adept at sarcasm and who happened to be non-American, or vice-versa (an American who didn't understand sarcasm). It's just statistically speaking from my limited viewpoint.

I love sarcasm and irony, when I get it. I really appreciate it as a comic method and try (if fail) to use it quite a bit. I have a love hate relationship with sarcasm - I love it but I am blind too it and it hates me for it. It is not my forte.

I'm inclined toward sarcasm, but I think it can also just be a method to avoid making committed statements. As such, I've made an effort to use it less, but I'm not swearing off it. I certainly appreciate well-used sarcasm when I see it/hear it.

I generally avoid its use in written communication to a general audience as it often gets lost in the shuffle or serves to confuse the matter at hand.

pshh, sarcasm...

hell yea i use it. Every day. I don't use it all the time as i like to be honest and upfront, but sometimes people can't tell if im being brutally honest or sarcastic. Kinda a PITA probably because i used to be more sarcastic more often.

1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain.

2 a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual.

Merriam-Webster is a little 'dry' but there are times that sarcasm is okay by me and that would be when it wasn't designed to cut, give pain or used against someone. If done right sarcasm can be funny to the person it's directed at especially when accompanied by a smile. A person during a clever moment may even be able to convey a smile in writing.

I had difficulty with sarcasm when I was growing up because I'm a literal person. But I have gotten better at it. I can tell sometimes when someone is being sarcastic. I also do sarcasm myself. I also use it to get my point across.

People who use sarcasm should be shot on site. They are a bunch of idiots that think it's funny by trying to make anything they say funny..

Fuck people who use sarcasm...

Ends sarcasm... this has been all sarcasm of course and if right now you still don't get that then you got MAJOR problems (Also Welcome Calico. :p)

I like sarcasm a lot more when it's meant to be funny, not meant to be hurtful or to give one a sense of superiority. Of course, I do understand that in some situations one can get angry enough that it is a better option than some other options taken during anger.

I'm still surprised there hasn't been a universal sarcasm font that has been developed. I mean, smilies are nice, but it's still hard to tell sometime, because they're not always used for pure sarcasm. I still think braces {} should be used to denote sarcasm. ;)

Fuck no, I hate sarcasm. It should be banned from ADISC. People are too stupid to understand when people are being sarcastic and we have to constantly use disclaimers.
So I have to be serious all the time, and not sarcastic.

Fucking right, I love sarcasm.... (damn disclaimer)

Excuse me, maybe they have autism or a form of it so it be hard for them to understand sarcasm. Besides, it's harder online for anyone to tell when someone is being sarcastic.
