Discombobulating

My word for the day is.

"discombobulating."

It a very big word, that fun to say.
Even more fun to work into a sentence..

It means.

“confuse.” If something has put you in a state where you don't know up from down and you can't spell your own name, you may bediscombobulated.

Heee, heee.

I wonder what the derivation of that word is? Words usually come from some country during some historical period. That would be a good word to look up.

Perhaps once long ago. "Dis" is a weird prefix though, many of the words it's used on don't stand alone or mean something totally different. Disappointed and appointed are both words, but they're not opposites at all. Disapproval and approval work as opposites. Disgusted is just a thing and there is no gusted (other than a windy day perhaps), and while an employee can be disgruntled you'll never hear about any gruntled workers.
