I am wanting to start transitioning to cloth diapers but I am looking for a diaper that can fit a decent size booty and hips. I have tried rearz and they don’t make them wide enough to be comfortable. Can y’all suggest brands that might work.

If you don't mind sharing, what are your measurements? (If you do mind, I understand.) For around-the-house wear, I prefer "classic" cloth diapers like prefolds. Larger sizes of these are pretty easy to find, and a few places like AdultClothDiaper.com and Angel Fluff (though I don't much care for the latter) will do custom sizes. Monika of DependEco will custom-size any of her diapers and diaper covers if you ask. Also check Etsy. I don't have a recommendation for an Etsy store, but I know there are a few who'll custom-make diapers in a variety of styles.

So what kind of cloth diapers have you tried/are you looking at? Velcro brief, prefold, flat?

The Rearz 2XL prefolds would likely fit you well if you were at all inclined toward pinning. If you haven't looked at Babykins, they have some larger sizes as well, both in pull-on and tabbed styles. Also consider reaching out to DependEco if their styles interest you. For best performance, I'd suggest the ones with PUL exteriors. The ones with cotton prints will be more prone to wicking. Again, Monika (owner) will do custom-sized diapers. I don't think her stock sizes would suit you, but I'm sure she can make something for you.

What is a PUL exterior. Honestly I am a newbie at this. I am good with prefolds and velcro

All of the DependEco diapers, and most all-in-one and pocket types from other companies, use PUL (PolyUrethane Laminate) for the waterproof layer. It's basically rubberized fabric. On many diapers, the PUL layer is also the exterior shell of the diaper. Unfortunately PUL doesn't come in nearly as many cute prints, so on a lot of diapers the PUL is additionally covered with a cotton or flannel print fabric just for looks. In my experience, that leads to the outside of the diaper moistening more quickly due to wicking at the leg cuffs and elsewhere. Those diapers can still perform well (and they're certainly cuter), but the plain PUL exteriors are best.

I also like AdultClothDiaper.com and if I recall correctly they also sew custom sized. I do not like cloth diapers with an attached plastic or PUL cover as the diaper liner always out lasts the cover. And, I like to rotate my diapers so that it is days between a reuse. Where the diaper covers can be reused after a deep rise and air dry.
