Did anyone have to wear Goodnites for bedwetting as a child? How was your bedwetting and night diapers handled within the family (as in was the family supportive)?

I wore pull-ups or Goodnites if I was going to fall asleep away from home (at someone else's house, on a long car trip, etc.) until I was about 11. Otherwise if at home I'd just have wet sheets to wash in the morning. My family culture was very open, honest, and nonchalant about it. Just a fact of life, nothing to hide. I was an only child until age 12 so didn't have to deal with sibling issues, and my younger sibling ended up having even worse bedwetting issues than I did. (Also meant I might grab one of their diapers to use as a pad on occasion for quite a few years after I stopped wearing Goodnites; didn't discuss with parents but I'm quite certain they knew and I know they didn't mind.)

My husband was also a bedwetter and used Goodnites until 11-12. In contrast, his family culture was a lot different and his parents inadvertently made him feel "damaged" and he was hotly teased by younger siblings, who also told friends as leverage.

Edit: should add too that it led to considerably different outlooks/feelings for us. So for me things like wetting weren't secrets or fetishes and diapers were normal and utilitarian. For my husband the teasing and secrecy led to kinks, fetishes, ABDL, etc. (That being said, I recognize it's an oddity about our dynamic then where I'm the one who wears... but to his great enjoyment.)

I was a chronic nightly wetter growing up. It was terry nappies and plastic pants until I was about 9 years old and then just under wear and a towel to soak up the wetness. I went back to nappies in my teens.

My problem is severe OAB and urge incontinence, so I didn't usually wet the bed. The strong urge would generally wake me up and I would wet my pants on the way to the bathroom. Sometimes my bladder contractions start off mild and then increase in strength, so if I am asleep in those instances, by the time I do wake up the bed is usually soaked.

I did not have Goodnights or anything else. I was so afraid of telling my mom that I needed diapers\pull-ups, so I never did - but I did take my younger sibling's diaper all of the time. I remember going to sleep several nights with a "borrowed" diaper on hoping that I would be caught by my mother, but it never happened.

Both my older brother (2 yrs) and I were chronic bedwetters to our early teens. Our older sister also wet her bed regularly until she was about 11, so she was pretty understanding of our condition. So it runs in families. we all wore diapers, then goodnites with plastic pants. Our parents were very cool about it and told us we would grow out of it which, for the most part we did. My only Complaint is that my mother was so nonchalant about it, that she could be relatively indiscreet with the wash or where she left are laundered supplies. Had more than one occasion I returned home to find our beds stripped with just the rubber sheets showing while the wash was being done. I remember one time I was about nine and I had a friend with me. It was pretty embarrassing but I told my friend my it was there “just in case” nothing more was ever said about it and I wouldn’t be surprised if his bed also had one.

I wet the bed nightly until I was 15 and wore Goodnites from the age of 10-15. Before that because I was a slenderly-built child I wore regular diapers or pull-ups until I was 10. Before I transitioned to Goodnites it wasn’t uncommon for my dad to put a diaper on me before bed, especially if I was real tired and forgot to while watching tv. My parents had no issue with my bed wetting and they did actively try and help me with alarms occasionally and I even had a sleep study done but nothing worked, it stopped on its own overnight. I also didn’t really have any shame about my protection at night and would usually just wear a shirt and my diaper and then my Goodnites when I started wearing them until I stopped. I was wet almost nightly and the only thing my parents ever said to me in the morning was to get changed after breakfast after seeing the state of my diaper. I’m very thankful I wasn’t made to feel bad about it and glad it stopped too as I was getting worried it never would as I was a varsity athlete all four years and was popular and didn’t want to be a bedwetter that everyone found out about

Goodnights hadn't been invented when I was a kid. I wore pinned on cloth diapers and rubber pants until I was 17 for my bedwetting. Like Happy89, my parents were pretty casual about it, never made a big deal over my bedwetting and wearing diapers. Same with my sister who is three years younger than me and also wet her bed and had to be diapered by mom just like me. For most of my childhood until I left for college, wearing diapers was never treated as anything abnormal. In fact, when I came home from college on holidays, I got to wear diapers to bed if I wanted to and I did. My mom was OK with it and let me know she didn't have a problem if I wanted to wear diapers. My sister, who had stopped wetting her bed by then also told me she didn't care if I liked to wear diapers. She'd hang around with me at night after I had been diapered and we'd spend all night talking about college life and what it was like. She couldn't wait to go to college herself. Usually by the time she went to bed I was already a little wet from going potty in my diapers while we talked. Now my wife, who doesn't wear diapers herself, loves to play around with me after she has diapered me for the night.

There was a girl from my church youth group that I was kind of dating. This was probably sophomore or junior year in high school. I went with her to her house one afternoon and we went into her bedroom. There was an intercom system so her parents upstairs could call her if they needed to speak or whatever. They were middle to upper class--it was a nice home. She told me one time she brought a soda downstairs and her father spanked her so hard that the coins in her back pocket left an imprint on her bum. So her parents were very controlling I deduced. I sat down on her bed and immediately heard and felt the crinkle of a plastic mattress protector. I don't know if she was a bedwetter or if her parents protected the bed with a mattress cover incase she spilled a drink or something. Probably the latter but I dunno. Her house and room smelt fresh and clean, not like pee thats for sure.

I've been a DL since childhood, although I didn't really know what it was until I was a teen. But I did see an ad for GoodNites, so I would wet the bed on purpose. After a few weeks, I was put in GoodNites and I contineued to "wet the bed" until I was like 12 or 13.

The doctor said I would outgrow it eventually.

True! It was holding it or having an accident.
