I have.
I said I wet the bed and asked the nurse to put it on me as I was in for a surgery and couldn't really move much at all.
It's not a big deal to the nurses, they do it every day :)

Personally I haven't but if given that situtation, it might be prefered if you tell the nurse, instead of actually wetting the bed and have to have them clean it up.

It is a little embarrassing, but they don't make a big deal out of it, it's a common problem with nothing to worry.
Better be safe than sorry :)
EDIT:
at the hospital I had my operation, they gave me Tena Slip (plus and maxi ones)

Has anyone been diapered in a hospital??

This is kind of an ongoing interest/fantasy of mine that I have moderate embarrassment about. Because I know this however, I would never ask for a diaper if I were to be admitted to the hospital unless I really really actually needed one and even in that case -- I know they have other "solutions". I'd feel pretty guilty about using someone else unknowingly to fulfill a fetish. Id probably let them know that I have night issues with eneuresis and if they want me to use any kind of protection like I do at home. Just leave it up to their prerogative so I'm not manipulating anyone.

In speaking with my wife, who is a nurse, diaper wearing does happen in the hospitals she has worked in on occasion. however it seems that it often was a last resort used after a patient has had several accidents (and primarily of the #2 variety). As has often been noted by those who suffer from incontinence here on adisc, diapers are almost universally seen by the medical community as the ultimate defeat.

Oh and I'm young and healthy with no reason to be in the hospital so there's that fact too: I'm not likely to be faced with this "situation" any time soon.

I was in the hospital last year for double knee surgery. Was in leg casts and in a hospital bed for about 3 weeks. The nurses thought it would be a good idea for me to be in brief/diapers while i was in there. They had me doing upper body strenght exercises which allowed me to raise up so they could slide the diaper under me. They used a blue attends with 4 tapes. Since i had large hips the tape sometime would come un tapped. The nurses used an extra cloth tape to hold them on. i looked forward to the diaper changes which were alot due to the medication i was on that made me pee all the time. When i went to therapy you could tell i had a diaper on due to the bulge in my shorts, and the crinkle of the diaper.

They will pressure you to take a catheter first before diapers and unless you have a very good reason to not take the Cath (prior infection is no longer an excuse because they have external catheters Now) they will continuously push for a catheter. They hate diapers. They are expensive, bad for your skin, extra work for the nurse and messy to dispose of.

I say this out of experience (personally dealing with IC). They really dislike it and I personally had to deal with poor attitude of nurses when I insisted on diapers because catheters are very uncomfortable. They treated me like I was inconvenienceing them by needing them. Not a very good experience. Some nurses didn't care and were supportive but not many. If you know you're gonna be having a hospital stay...... Bring your own. Less attitude

Because I am incontinent and wear all the time, I have been changed while in the hospital. I even wore my diaper into the surgery room and I know they removed it or undid it for the surgery and when I woke up in recovery I had my diaper back on. The one hospital, I ran out of my diapers and had to use theirs till someone brought me more. Those were the worst diapers I have ever seen or used. One wetting and I was leaking everywhere and had to have the diaper changed, padding changed, and my gown too. Thankfully I was only in those for less than a day.

While I was in the hospital, if I could change myself, I would, so when there were times that I couldn't, the nurses were very helpful and respectful too.

I had just the opposite problem. In 1986 I had a benign tumor removed from the nerves in my spine. Because it was so traumatic to the nerves, I couldn't pee, and so they catheterized me. The only way they would release me was for me to learn how to catheterize myself, since they thought the condition could be permanent. An older female nurse taught me, handling the equipment, which was a bit embarrassing, to say the least. It was at least a month before things started working again.

Now I'm going to have to face similar surgery as bone spurs have grown into those same nerves, a result from the old surgery. In addition, I also have a cyst on the inside wall of the spine and that will have to be removed. My fear is that I won't be able to pee after the surgery. I'd rather be incontinent than its opposite.

1) I would rather have the diaper then the $^&*^% Catherer. Foley had to be a sadistic B$&%^&. Rubber tubing is not condusive to normal movement. I have had to have them twice in the last three years and that was three times to meny!

2) I did ask for a DIaper when I was discharged after three day stay for Lobar Pnuemonia. (Thank GOD it was antibiotic responcive Staph Aurious. ) The Antibiotics they had me on were so strong it cleaned out my bowels and I had Diarrhea so bad that I was not sure I would be able to make the one hour ride home. It was the first time for an adult diaper and it was the most uncomfortable, itchy, and wedgey producing piece of junk I had ever worn. From that day forward I swore by cloth diapers.

Although I have never been hospitalized (well, except when I was born of course!), I will definitely refuse a catheter if the situation ever arises. One time I was in the er with a possible kidney infection. But I was on my period, so they couldn't tell if there was any blood in my pee from my kidneys. The nurse halfheartedly suggested a catheter to draw off a clean sample, which I quickly refused.

As a child, I was burned severely, and underwent some very nasty days in hospital. One of the side-effects was that I couldn't take myself to the bathroom, and I suppose even in those days, the nurses were understaffed, or just overworked? Any ways, after wetting/soiling my bed one, two times too many, I endured the humiliation of being put in diapers.
While I can't recall the painful, horrible burn-grafts or associated memories, I recall one nurse in particular being quite hateful/demeaning TO me, as she cleaned and then put on a new diaper.

A nurse...

I was five years old, I think?

Other incidents, as an adult, but I don't feel 'Safe', writing about them just now.

Hospitals, and their staff, should know better than to ridicule someone for such a thing. 'Then', AND 'Now'

Ive got mixed feelings about being put in diapers in a hospital. I mean sure you get to fulfill your fetish/fantasy and you dont have to use a cathedure (winces at the thought of using one) but I would feel extremely embarrassed if while being changed by a female nurse I suddenly got an erection. -////-

I'll chime in a little. A year ago, I had surgery that required a short hospital stay. I informed them of my situation before being admitted, and they were accepting of my bringing my own supplies. They even allowed me to try theirs during my time as a guest. Now, I am a real stickler for liability issues, and have always put my best efforts in keeping my strong moral values in practice. Therefore, even when offered, I politely declined the nurse's assistance. She was happy to see that I was not going to require her to manage something that I am supposed to manage myself. For that, I gained her respect and that of the rest of the staff while I was there.

Keep in mind, that I am a male, over 50 years of age. She was less than 30, and most likely, someone's wife/daughter/baby. I was not going to take the slightest risk of going to jail, over a favor from a young nurse potentially getting upset over what amounts to an unmentionable involuntary function. In the end, that hospital was able to trust me with two very young clerks, high school students in fact. The two kids stayed with me, without security present, while I waited for the cab home.

Moral of the story: When you are in a hospital, be EXTREMELY careful how you handle staff members, especially females. If you can take care of your own needs, than by all means, do it. Otherwise, you might regret it later. It only takes a story told to someone's husband, or parents, or other significant person to ruin your life. You have been warned.

So... you're claiming that nurses will happily offer to change the diapers of incontinent people, then report them to the police for sexual harassment later if they accept the help? Sorry, but that sounds just a little bit unrealistic and paranoid, even if you have a point in that you probably should changing yourself if you're able to do so. I have a very hard time believing that hospitals make security watch people just for being incontinent.

I agree, because if they use a catheter, they will have to put their hands on your schlong anyway. Im sure its very common for them to see erections. Putting diapers on would actually have less private touching than the full grabbing your thing to insert a catheter.

I have to agee. I have been in the hospital more times than I can count. They do not react that way to diaper changes at all. It is a very normal part of their Job. Though some really do not like it and treat you like crap while they change you they do not react bad if you have an arousal during a change. I have never heard of that and I have a lot of knowledge on it. The only reason they would have need to report it is if someone was trying to get them to touch you in order to get a climax. But if they are simply changing yuour diaper and you get excited they do not do anything about it.

I will be going into hospital later in the year for some surgery and I anticipate being in there for 2-4 days. I intend to take my own supplies and change myself, but I am rather hoping they'll keep me cathetered until I go home. I won't be capable of dashing to the loo at a moment's notice.
