Well I have heard of people trying this but never got to do it myself till today.
I just got the HTC Touch on sprint. I dont think the connection is to bad.

Have any of you ever used your phone as a modem before. If so how well did it work?

I use my blackberry as a modem all the time. it's very handy. The connection isn't as fast as DSL/Cable, but it's a heck of a lot more portable.

Sony Ericcson k750i. 30k(as in dial-up is 56k) & 2c per kb. Totally inefficient for any non-emergency use and in an emergency, it's capability as a phone would be much more useful.

I don't pay per kilobyte since I subsxribed to an unlimited access plan. My data rate is 115kb/sec.

Being on a Data plan. It's easy for me to do it! But Depending on where I am I get 800Kbit/sec if I'm very lucky in a 3G area! but otherwise somethinglike 20kbit/sec is normal. Good enough to do check emails. Cheaper than SMS or MMS when roaming in other countries I found out. I got charged 12p for checking 30 emails and sending about 3. Won't ever get charged that much for MMS or SMS. I think there was a mistake on the bill or something. But I'm not complaing.
