Anyone out there have a story or fond memories of riding in a Car seat? Looking for 70's-80's era.

I was car seat age in the early 70s and i have a vague memory of a red Britax car seat that was in my Uncles car - which was pretty much the only car i used to go in. That car didn't have seat belts in the back, and maybe not in the front, so no idea how it was secured to the car.. Going out with my Uncle in the car was always a treat.

I remember a "bucket" car seat like the ones pictures above, in someone else's car. Back in the day before the child seat laws that we have now, my "car seat" was made from a telephone directory wrapped in newspapers and cloth, and "straps" attached to the main seat of the car. I remember the triumph of working out how to undo them: there was a metal plate labelled "press". In those days, it was normal for kids to travel on the floor of the car, on laps, in the luggage space, and so on... unthinkable now.

It normal for kids today to be in 5 point car seat all the way to 5 or 6 years old. Wander how that will affect the abdl world in the futcher
