Another (different) shaving question

I’ve read a bunch this morning looking for an answer for this. There’s lots of to shave or not to shave and how to shave, but I’m interested to know: how much to shave? I only have urinary issues. Am I wasting my time if I don’t shave my backside too? That sounds like a nightmare. I’ve done my pubic mound, scrotum, and inner thighs where my diaper rests. When I realized there was a lot of hair “back there”, I thought, “Oh, heck no. Ask!”

I only shave my front side. It’s so much better to not have to clean pee soaked hair.

I wouldn't bother with the backside. Being you only have urinary issues, and you obviously clean it when you do #2.

I'd just make sure that when you shower, to make sure you give that area a good clean. I think that's all you'd need.

Completely shaving the entire diapered region makes cleanup the easiest but you have got the most important parts done, I think you'll notice a difference. :)

I guess I'll throw in my two-cents worth... I shave regularly "down there," and that includes both my front side and my backside. A long time ago, I decided to take the risk to do the backside "sight-unseen." I wash with soap and water completely and then use shampoo as my lubricant for shaving. I make sure I use a good razor and keep it plenty warm in a container of hot water. I simply reach around and shave--VERY, VERY CAREFULLY everything on my back side. I don't use a heavy stroke, just a gentle one, and I can get pretty much clean when I shave. So far I have been really lucky: no nicks or cuts back there, although I do occasionally get a nick on my front side. I just do it as carefully as I can.

I know this is a truly individual decision and I'm sure each person here will have their reasons for what they do or don't do. I just know that I love the smooth, soft feel of my whole "down-there" being shaved clean. To each their own...

Gotta say it would be pretty hard to shave your own bottom....

U-IC individuals have greater latitude regarding shaving and I believe there are several indicators one should use to determine how much.
- How hairy one is, as the more bear like the more likely one needs to fully remove the full diaper area hair as hair loves to hang onto urine.
- How thick are those areas that get wet? Some have thin hair and lightly dispersed, others are carpeted front to back. The neared to wall to wall carpeting, the more that needs to be removed.
- How much and how often you change? When you change how much volume the diaper contains and where?
- Where the volume is contained? If you sit most of the time, you will need to remove hair from those areas that are exposed to urine for longer periods of time.

Remember that shaving is not the only answer, but that will depend on your skin and its reaction to chemicals, etc.. I shave as I react to chemical hair removers.

These are all really good considerations. I’ll pay better attention to where I’m wet tomorrow. I do sit most of the day (at the moment), so I should probably remove the hair that marinates all day. :)

I get done with all my hair in the diaper/nappy region. I find it so much cleaner.

Wouldn’t trust myself with a razor in those difficult to see locations. I’m able to use a spray on foam chemical hair remover on my skin. Find it relatively quick and easy to apply in the shower and then rinse off with the help of an exfoliating glove. Super easy if your skin can handle the chemicals. Apply aloe vera cream very occasionally afterwards if my skin reacts.

Shave everything you can, it just feels better. IMHO

I'm UIC, except of my head more bear type hairy, but I never felt in my life the need to shave anything down there, also not since being IC. I see no reason - I don't smell at all down there (confirmed by my wife), my skin is healthy, never ever had something like a diaper rash. I see more the risk that with any kind of shaver you could harm your skin with micro-scratches which causes - in combination with urine - more trouble than urine on a healthy skin! So, no, removing my hairs down there is not option for me!

Has anyone tried the Braun laser hair removing tool? I saw it recommended on IG by someone who is disabled and finds shaving hard and waxing unpleasant, but it's expensive to buy but apparently if you use it a few times the hair stops growing back.

I do use a "long hair" electric shaver (3-6mm) for everything, legs, breast, back, head, you name it. I do this much longer than i am incontinent.

Since i do wear, i additionally use a "flashy thing", like in MiB, no joke, thats the name for it in Germany (Blitzdings), officially this is called IPL hair remover, for my crotch area. It reduces the amount of hair long term.

Yes, i do use this for some month now. It works somehow, but it takes time and you have to get used to the smell. ;)

I completely shave my nappy area (front and rear) and have done for years. I am only urinary incontinent but like others have said, its easier to keep clean and keep the smell down.

Nearly 30 years of U-IC and I have never had an issue with smell, hygiene, or skin issues down there. If a rash is starting, I feel the prickly heat on my butt and begin treatment immediately. That said, ever since I lost close to 2" in flaccid length from having my prostate removed, I have used scissors to keep things trimmed down there. This prevents hair from getting entangled and pulled when my penis retracts now. Ouch. Maybe the current trend in manscaping is age related. I have many friends that were top ranked world class swimmers back in the day. They would shave down for major meets, but never shaved anything covered by their Speedo.

Do you use any barrier cream?

To be honest I'm not that hairy. And it's super easy. Once you get used to it you'll love it. Helps for keeping you clean. Besides, my girlfriend loves it. Not sure why. By the way, she shaves too. And I really like it. She looks so hot when naked. When she saw me hairless she said it looks cute? As for shaving, it's probably the best thing you can do, Particularly if you have to clean-up after having a dirty diaper.

No, nothing like that. If changing at home, I always clean down there with PH-neutral soap, water and a washcloth and I take care to drink enough water during the day - so my urine is quite clear and neutral. And, although having to wear 24/7 since nearly one year, never had any issues with my skin!
