I'd like to add a rant to your Animal Abuse thread if I may, baby ashley. It's about people who drop off unwanted animals on a country road to fend for themselves because they don't want to take the responsibility of turning the animal(s) over to the county animal shelter.
We've got a young, abandoned pit bull roaming around our road, stumbling about like it's sick, or starved, or both. We called the county animal control office and they came out to pick it up. Well, the dog went into the woods by the time they arrived, so they started searching the area. They didn't find the stray pit bull we saw, but found two other dogs and a cat, all strays with no collars. Now, I look out the window a while ago and there's the pit bull laying down by the edge of the woods and the county offices are closed until Monday morning. The way this poor dog is dragging himself around I doubt he'll be alive by Monday. :frown: However, being a stray plus acting sick as he is, it's really not wise to approach him. We thought about putting some food out to keep him close by until he can be picked up.
UPDATE: He disappeared back into the woods again. With everything grown up it's hard to spot him unless he comes back out.
People who do this to animals should be stuck in a cage themselves for several days with no food! Oh, and get a swift kick in the butt on the way in!
