It's a nice video, but if I can be a bit critical... The song (If Everyone Cared) is overused a lot. A little over half the video seemed to have nothing to do with animal abuse, as you were just flashing random images of animals who may or may not have been abused. And I don't understand the significance of the picture at the beginning of the sign that says if you tag your pet it'll be returned to you. What does that have to do with animal abuse?

Other than that, it was a nice beginner's video.

"If everyone cared" hint hint..If everyone did care about animals. I took the pics of all the dogs myself at a local pound and they were abused animals.
But good point on the sing.

I'd like to add a rant to your Animal Abuse thread if I may, baby ashley. It's about people who drop off unwanted animals on a country road to fend for themselves because they don't want to take the responsibility of turning the animal(s) over to the county animal shelter.

We've got a young, abandoned pit bull roaming around our road, stumbling about like it's sick, or starved, or both. We called the county animal control office and they came out to pick it up. Well, the dog went into the woods by the time they arrived, so they started searching the area. They didn't find the stray pit bull we saw, but found two other dogs and a cat, all strays with no collars. Now, I look out the window a while ago and there's the pit bull laying down by the edge of the woods and the county offices are closed until Monday morning. The way this poor dog is dragging himself around I doubt he'll be alive by Monday. :frown: However, being a stray plus acting sick as he is, it's really not wise to approach him. We thought about putting some food out to keep him close by until he can be picked up.

UPDATE: He disappeared back into the woods again. With everything grown up it's hard to spot him unless he comes back out.

People who do this to animals should be stuck in a cage themselves for several days with no food! Oh, and get a swift kick in the butt on the way in!

I'm with 200% on that one. I think animal abusers should be treated like they do there animals

You realize that the problem is nobody does care and the best way to make them care is not to show them the animals that have been saved and are now happy bit to show them beat up animals that have visible signs of abuse and things that will shock people. Then you need to start a movement with the people that are shocked enough to act. I personally would see people who mistreat animals be beaten to death but that is why I don't run the country ...yet. So while I would say the video is a pretty good first shot, the song is overused and the most shocking picture is the one eyed cat. If you create a video that inspires me I will go as far as to say I would march right up to the White house right by your side.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but I tend to be blunt because I think that people like you do have the ability to make the changes in the world that you want to see but you have to step up your game. This is a harsh world and you need a video that will open peoples eyes not make them think about how cute the kittens are. Basically think Invisible Children except with animal abuse.

That's cruel. There's absolutely no way any human being should have to go through that.

Animal abuse is bad and all that, but there are a lot more important things to work on. Like poverty, AIDS, cancer, abuse to other human beings, etc. In my opinion, we need to work on the problems other human beings are dealing with, before we worry our head with animal abuse. After all, what have animals done for society? What CAN animals do for society? Nothing.

There are certainly higher priorities. Luckily, as a society, we can give more than one subject our attention at one time.

As for what have animals done for society, man's domestication of animals pretty much made our society possible. Some of them get a pretty decent deal, others not so much, but we wouldn't be where we are without the exploitation of animals and as they are members of our society without a vote, I think we are morally obligated to act on their behalf in a thoughtful way.

You're right, Maverick. Let me retract that statement. Instead of the cage, dump the animal's owner in the middle of nowhere to fend for themself for days on end after always having their food and other needs provided. That would be more fitting since it's basically what owners are doing by dumping unwanted animals out on deserted country roads. Only difference is the owner would have enough sense to stay out of the path of cars and trucks, not necessarily so with the abandoned animals.

Nice video, and it gets the message out. I suppose you have seen the Sarah McLachlan commercial on TV with her song The Angel playing in the backround. She narrates as they show footage of dogs and cats in cages waiting either for homes or death. It's very moving, and always brings tears to my eyes. She must be very passionate about saving the animals. I teach in an inner city school, and it's disturbing how many of the boys say they want to get a pit bull and kick it to make it mean. I always say, "Girls, don't ever marry this guy, because he will treat you the same way." It always gets a response.

You make good points. We can give more than one subject our attention at the same time. But I think that those other topics (poverty, AIDS, cancer, abuse to other human beings, etc.) should be focused on more than animal abuse. I too believe we should stop animal abuse and imprison the animal abusers. But animals don't have the same depth of feelings human beings do. Human beings are also more contributory to society. That's why I think we should place the needs of our fellow humans above those of animals.

In case you haven't noticed, millions of human beings are going through that right now too. Millions are homeless; millions are starving. And I'm sure the same is with animals, but as I stated before, our emotions are deeper and we humans are more contributory to society, so we should come above animals. And btw, revenge doesn't solve anything. It only makes things worse.

It's not so much revenge, more like appropriate punishment as you mentioned they should receive:

Out of the two forms of punishment, I'd take fending for myself rather than being imprisoned and dealing with the abuse you'd likely get there.

Even though my rant in this thread was based on people who abandon their animals instead of taking them to an animal shelter if they can no longer care for them, it's people's general care-less attitude about nearly everything that upsets me the most, some points of which you mentioned. But I'm not going to go there in this thread, it would be taking it too far off topic.

There's ABSOLUTELY no REASON an animal should have to be staved, beatin, burned and abuse. If they are 'big enuf" to beat on an animal they a "big enuf" to take the beatin.

I rest my case
