Basically yesterday oma went with me to the local pizza store to make sure they get a pizza right, which was embarrassing for me because I just accept whatever because I think that there lives are hard which is besides the point. Anyway I thought she was going to be embarrassing but she wasn't and I complimented her on that. She took it as a insult and gave me a big lecture and I still haven't gotten over that. Like am I just that socially awkward that someone could confuse a compliment for a insult, Or is it just what I said? Regardless I just need to get this off my chest.

I'd probably be upset to find out someone expects me to be an embarrassment.

And I even know I can be embarrassing, I just want others to see me in a positive light.

Sounds like one of those backhanded compliments. Like telling someone they don't "look as fat as they usually do." You probably hurt their feelings by letting them know that you think they're an embarrassment. Compliments don't feel nice when they just served a highlight things you're already insecure about, or when they're delivered in a way that seems passive aggressive.
