Show of hands…. Who watched a Christmas story movie this season. I think I’ve seen itevery year since it came out, great movie!

I watched it again after a long time (10+ years) and honestly didn’t recall some of the details, like with the mother snickering after the broken lamp. It brought back a lot of nice memories of my childhood tendencies to daydream similar to Ralphie.

It’s definitely a Christmas tradition here. Related (amazing!) facts:

• I first watched A Christmas Story at school in 1984. I was in 4th grade. Imagine a teacher playing that movie in a public school classroom today! Guns, religious themes, a sexy lamp, bullying… It would be grounds for a formal reprimand, at the very least.
• I received a Red Ryder BB gun when I was nine years old, though for my birthday, not Christmas. I still have it. Unlike Ralphie’s, mine lacks “a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time.”

I forgot when I first saw A Christmas Story but it was an instant hook and an instant tradition. I have both a leg-lamp tree ornament and a leg-lamp solar bobble-head here. Fra-JEE-lay, indeed. Must be Italian! 🤣

Got the dvd, but it's too much a classic to ruin by watching it 🤭
Got the '2', too (I don't know how related they are), as web download, but have yet to watch that.
