    Default Petition for larger nappies to be made and stocked in UK supermarkets

    Hi all
    I found this on the internet this morning

    I've signed up for it as I think it would help a lot of people including us
    I think we should all sign it and help out a community in need

    While this is clearly aimed at older children with disabilities and we certainly wouldn't want to "hijack" it as ABDLs (by all means sign and support, but hope nobody will post inappropriate ABDL-related comments) it does raise an issue about the gap between "nappies" and "incontinence products". Why is one frequently talked about, advertised etc. while the other is generally hidden away, seen as a specialist medical product and associated with shame and embarrassment?

    In reality they're the same undergarment, that people of all ages need (or want...) to wear, so why can't they be one and the same in marketing terms? They obviously won't make baby-print Pampers in adult sizes, but why not adult Pampers with plain or discreet designs? And all the sizes in between, of course.

    That was 100% what I meant
    I did not in anyway want people to start turning it into get abdl nappies I just think it's a worthy cause that we could help as we can all understand the difficulties that these parents go through trying to find nappies between baby and adult nappies

    The question isn't "why not" but "why". Marketting the same product, sometimes even produced by the same company and from the same factory under different brands is a well established thing for a reason.

    And n the case of diapers, parents like to think they are buying baby diapers for their baby and most adults probably prefer to think of themselves as buying adult incontinence products rather than the adult version of baby diapers.

    Despite similarities in the product, they are two very different markets in terms of how and to whome they are advertised and how they are sold and distributed. There's very little gain for pampers marketting an adult product under their established pampers brand as far as marketting goes and everything to lose.

    I really wish that people would stop bringing up why Pampers won't make an adult product, well they have, It's Always Discreet. No big brands will make adult diapers anymore because they won't cater to smaller groups. They want only the highest consumed products. Pampers did make Attend back in the day, but sold out to paperpak because the demand wasn't large enough. P&G is a very large corporation and will end things and begin things based upon large amounts of money.

    Maybe you should talk to P&G, not Pampers. The only reason P&G came out with Always Discreet is because the adult incontinence market is on a higher trend than baby diapers. Baby diapers has like a 2% growth, but incontinence products have been rising quickly, at like a 40% growth.

    Depend had been advertising how feminine pads aren't for incontinence, but their products are the right choice. Ever seen the advertisements?

    P&G came back out after a decade out of the market and basically made the product based off of Depend's and Poise's success.

    All I'm saying is that P&G will most likely never make anything being what they have now since it is what is trending. They don't innovate any products, they just copy and sell.

    Kimberly Clark has been the innovator, they've introduced Pullups, Goodnites, protective underwear to the consumer, Then when success is made, P&G follows.

    Keep in mind that Huggies (Kimberly Clarke) was the brand on goodnites when they came out... Then pampers introduced under jams once they saw the market segment that goodnites had.

    In all honesty I think it would be nice if the stores stocked the larger youth diapers that are out there. Even if it is only one brand. There are parents of kids that are older and bigger in size that are still dealing with diapers.

    From my observation, the supply of nappies for older children has been gradually increasing over time. Twenty-odd years ago, Pampers size 6 did not exist. Nor did GoodNites. If nappies for larger children are not sold widely, it's because there isn't sufficient demand for them. No petition is going to change that. Supermarkets stock what profits them, and I would imagine that the demand for nappies for school-age children is insufficient to make such bulky items a profitable use of shelf space, especially when the NHS continence service is taking up a big proportion of the market.

    I also fail to see why ordering online is such an inconvenience in this day and age. There are options other than having to be at home to receive your order, and even then, you can buy in bulk.

    You say that but there must be growth in the special needs market as marks & spencer who are deemed as a luxury brand have this month released a special needs clothing range

    Online. They aren't stocking them in stores, nor do I think it likely that they will.
