texas wanting to separate from the us ?

I have been watching a bit about Texas wanting to leaving the us. Just wanted to see if people have been watching this, and see if your in the yes are no category to this issue.

I don't have any opining on this as of yet I'm just watching it. :chin:

I think it was either Rand Paul or Ron Paul who not only thought Texas should succeed from the union, but should become a part of Mexico. I'm all for it. It just made me laugh and laugh. Texas deserves to be over run by a Mexican drug cartel and governed by one of the most corrupt governments in the world. Maybe they'd appreciate a little more the privilege it is to be an American. Of course Donald Trump would have to move his giant wall, and maybe he'd make Texas pay for it!

How would that work for those that wanted to stay an American or for people who had land in Texas?

Thanks dogboy, for calling my country a drug cartel hell and a corrupt government. It might be true, but it does feel rude if you point it out like that. People don't see the beauty of Mexico, but I won't start an argument over this. It's not worth it.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say bad things about your country. Your country has been in our news since (is it Bozman?) was able to have a 6 foot diameter tunnel drilled right into the maximum security prison allowing him to easily escape. To be honest, Mexico never comes across well in the U. S. news and so that's all us U. S.ers know. We don't get to see what is good about Mexico. Anyway, my comment was to make fun of Texas as they don't do well in the U. S. media either. But hell, I live in Virginia and we typically look like redneck hillbillies in the media. John Stewart made fun of us because we had a congressman named Virgil Goode. Who names their kid Virgil anymore?

I guess there's enough bad press to go around for any nation. Sorry to dis only Mexico. I guess I have my work cut out for me, dissing everyone starting with the U. S. Anyone up for a useless and pointless war?

Apology accepted, just be more mindful of what you say. About Mexico, yeah, we do get bad press on the U.S.A but to be honest, a couple years ago Mexico was a wonderful place to live. I lived 21 years there and I was very happy. Mexico has culture to offer, we have the Aztec and Maya pyramids, a long history of wealth and folklore, legends, stories and artists dating thousands of years back that would put many other countries to shame. And the food. We have exquisite food. We have natural habitats that are so wonderful you couldn't be able to look away. Sure, the government its corrupt, sure, North of the country is pretty messed up because of the drug cartels but people should look south, to states like Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Puerto Vallarta, Nayarit. Many of the leading scientists in the world are Mexican. Sure, no country is perfect but I believe that, despite the bad... Mexico is a very wonderful place.

I have to confess that I know very little about Mexico, but I'm glad you shared that. Unfortunately we do get a very slanted view of the world through the media. Everything they present are snippets and sound bytes, used to get viewers to keep watching and buy their advertised products. From what you described, much of Mexico sounds beautiful. I suppose it all centers on perspective.

It does. The media does like to give bad press to anyone, like they mostly focus on the bad things. But you should read more about the beautiful things Mexico has to offer. So please, next time, make an informed comment.

I've never heard texas wanting to join another countrie. They wanted to become their own countrie as far as I knew. But I thought Lincoln signed something that made that impossible without war, or at least that's what was said in the comments the last time there was a massive poll about them wanting to leave. Also the citys in Texas wanted to leave texas lol... Some interesting cultures there.

Some Texans were upset with America because they didn't like the president. Once Hillary gets in I'm sure they will return to their senses.

By return to their senses you mean what exactly?

Texas is not going to secede. They may have a loud minority of people who want to leave, but last time I checked, only 18% wanted it, with the vast majority opposing it. http://www.dallasnews.com/news/stat...texans-who-want-state-to-secede-from-u.s..ece Plus, they already tried after the Civil War. It went up to the Supreme Court in Texas v. White and the court ruled against it, and I highly doubt we're going to change that and allow Texas or any other state to secede. Honestly, the only way I can imagine Texas leaving the U.S is if the U.S was SEVERELY weakened, lost its status as a super-power, and was on the verge of completely collapsing.

It was just a joke. I have a sneaking suspicion that Texans won't like Hillary any more than they like Obama.

From where I live in New Hampshire, I see Texas as a screwy red-neck state.

In 1860, it wouldn't have been so odd, everything was so crazy back then. In 2015, it's just not gonna work and will become a joke, it wouldn't last a year.

The deal is of all the arguments I heard #1 it will never happen but #2 if it did people say us would just roll in the millitary and over run Texas.... I just laugh uncontrollably at that statement, in a hypothetical war between Texas state gov, police, national guard, and civilians vs. US millitary it would be one hell of a fight most Texas police are trained better than the US Army, also Texas has more civilians with full auto long barrel rifles "Assult Weapons" than 70%of all America combined. Texas state law allows re-millitarization of armored tanks to qualified licence holders. My uncle had bought an older Russian tank fixed it and got licenced in texas to re arm the cannon has about 12 rounds for it rubber tracks he drives it around town on special occasions. Texans are bat shit crazy for guns and I love it. My only argument with Texas is they are anti gay and my boyfriend is not real comfortable there.

I highly doubt that would be much of a fight actually. Why? Because if things got that bad the U.S would simply use guided munitions before anyone got close enough to use most of the alleged hardware that is in fact illegal to have could even get close enough to shoot anything. By the way most Texas police are trained by the army because most police forces actually recruit from former military personnel that just got additional training for civilian use. I don't think they would turn on our country actually that easily after swearing a oath to defend the U.S from all threats both foreign and in this case domestic. In fact if that where to happen they could be executed in a court martial even if they are no longer active military service I think.

Dear jesus man why the hate. Ya know i posted that stating a hypothetical sarcatic outcome that i literally could see them doing if they wanted to. Chill out its meant to be an exagetated situation as is the original topic. Now granted most everyone i spoke to in texas said they moved there to get away from the us government and all the socialist laws so by base understanding of mind set if something were ever to happen my money would be on texas as an origin but honestly you are half right. Us armed forces swears an oath to protect the country and its citizens, NOT its government. quite a few of them if given the order would not hesitate to land a missle in the capitol building. President they protect but congress is the bane of the millitarys existance. I have never met a soldier that would not jump in front of a bullet for the president or any civilian, but 8 out of 10 i speak to say they would be more than happy to "disband" congress

The idea of Texas seceding from the Union had been hinted for years, but I doubt such plans would ever materialize, since I haven't really heard any mention about the possibility of secession out of Governor Greg Abbott's mouth. Besides, how exactly relevant is he right now, really?
