Fitting a diaper with a belly

I know there are lots of posts about getting a diaper to fit properly but wasn't sure where to post about this problem. I wear XL sized diapers, which are the recommended size. However, they don't seem to fit snugly at all, mostly because of how it fits around the bottom of my belly. Anyone else have this problem and any ways to fix it?

I've got a 40" beer belly myself and I wear size large A+ level 4 and find that they fit me good.
They come up over my belly button. I only wear them for morning/daytime then I'm in cloth
the rest of the time.
