Thread: Tape on diapers for Bedwetters?

  1. #1

Default Tape on diapers for Bedwetters?

Anyone know of some tape on style (not pull-ups) diapers for older children with bedwetting issues? I am open to suggestions to anywhere in the world. I know there are 2 brands in Middle east that have this diaper, just wondering if there are anymore?

why not just buy a youth sized adult diaper. Its going to be cheaper and fit you properly. Baby diapers are meant for babies, not adults.

Tena has youth sizes, Attends (used to?) have xs (youth) size... so do a lot of other manufacturers of IC products...

Baiscally once the kid has outgrown the size for baby diapers parents can use any of the youth sized ones.

Problem is most IC products are crappy, I know some people here would probably say otherwise but the fact is nothing in the regular easy to find in store brands of IC products can compete with what baby diapers have in term of comfort and absorbency, the company that makes them are well aware that their IC products are not the best ones in the world and they don't care because they know most people that needs this kind of product are ashamed of themselves and would never ever complain about it. On the other hand, baby diapers are another story, parents will be more than happy to let the whole world know that this brand of baby diapers aren't working well so Pampers and all the others have to come up with a good product that works really well or they will face the criticism and will suffer their sales will go down usually, which would never ever happen for IC products generally at least. In other terms, we're screwed up unless we buy really good high quality IC products online, there's a lot of good products, but they aren't in store usually.

I agree - to some parts - as a life long IC & bedwetter I am indeed aware about the woes of most store-brand incontinence products.
Most are not even worth the label Incontinence Product.. some are just a waste of natural ressources and shelving space.

However at least here around over the last few years more and more "normal" stores (groceries, regular pharmacies) have started to have major IC products in stock.

None the less, personally I'd rather NOT buy my IC products where I buy my day to day food. I have done so at occasion - but honestly even though I am having much of an issue if anyone notices that I'm IC - I still like to keep this part discrete (it's a personal hygiene thing and not something I like to share with anyone). Not much for the fear of being made fun of (actually I don't really care about that) - but more for my desire to lead a life as unimpeded by my IC as humanly possible - and some people can't shake the idea of IC = disability (in the way of DIS-Ability...) ...

Also it's probably pretty much impossible for a regular store to carry high priced brands in stock and hope people buy them in quantities. it's not a product the majority of shoppers needs (IC Products), thus as a "niche" product it's what would be called a high risk stock item - something that the higher the price and thus the lower the chance for massive sales would consume shelf/stock space, and wouldn't generate a lot of cash-flow.
Thus the cheaper brands are less of an investment. Also as these items (depends for example) have an almost international name more people will buy them easily as say "tena slip".
The other thing is, for many of the ACTIVE ICs (I mean active as in working, driving, sporty - instead of being in a care facility, etc.) most have NO DESIRE to wear super thick products and any rate - most are content with pads / pull ups and rather no wear proper diapers 24/7... (exceptions apply).
So one more reason for general stores to rather carry such products than the more specialised high end diapers.
No "we" are not screwed - we just have a LOT more choices, and not all of them are good.

BUT larger pharmacies, medical supply stores, etc either have such diapers (tena, attends, molicate, etc...) in stock or can easily order them for you - and of course with the internet anyone can do so themselves.

Comparatively the market for baby diapers is FAR LARGER and much more MAINSTREAM... parents are VERY LIKELY to buy diapers for their children at the SAME store as they do their shopping - as theirs neither privacy concerns nor social stigma involved with buying baby diapers for their babies.
And thus it's a LOT more convenient.
Thus this is a HIGH VOLUME SALES ITEM that generates a LOT of cash flow for a store.

Also Parents - especially over the past two decades are - according to market studies - some of the most CRITICAL (in terms of "picky" about quality) - when it comes to products for their children. Thus of course the stores will mostly carry the TOP BRANDS... they can safely buy them in LARGE quantities, knowing that it will certainly be sold at maximum profit in a short time frame... and that DEMAND isn't really fluctuating.

There are CRAPPY baby diapers... they're just not really being sold at major places (no appeal, market wise).
