    Default Prison IC's"

This is something i have always asked myself. If people need diapers in prison di they get them? Do they get the shit beat out of them? Im not an IC but if i just wanted diapers and prison (i never plan on going there), but would i get them just because i wanted them and/or needed them?

If their doctor decided you have a need for diapers or you already have official medical records to say so then yes you would get them. If you aren't incontinent and just want diapers to satisfy yourself in whatever way then no you wouldn't. You are in prison for a reason. You shouldn't be getting any sort of luxury. Not to mention that the diapers would be free and coming from taxpayers money. Why should the taxpayer be wasting money for someone in prison to get medical supplies they don't need simply for personal satisfaction?

And yes, I would assume that they will get a hard time for being different in that way.

I'm fairly certain the guards would rather deal with the diapers being used as intended (as well as the other 'residents') than have to deal with the outcome, so to speak, of the truly incontinent people without some sort of measure

Its always possible to lie to anybody. I can't imagine it would be a good idea for a few reasons, not least of which are the consequences of people discovering that you wear diapers or, worse, that you lied to obtain them.

So just make sure your wearing a diaper when you get arrested and in the cop car wet it and then booking will be sure to know!

They'll check with your medical records, you can lie but you can't fake incontinence to a urologist. You'd be found out pretty quickly. Even on the minute chance you weren't you wouldn't be getting great diapers but cheap pads so it wouldn't even be worth the hassle of trying to lie.

Man i dont know weather to wish i was incontinent or not. But if i would get free diapers through medicare (canada) and have the benifits in places like prison (neven plan on going there), but i would feel guilty for the tax payers.

You get put in protective custody (essentially solitary confinement), and diapers are provided by the state. You don't get to choose or bring your own in, that would be a huge security risk. Yes, we actually had this happen when I was working in a jail. They were cheap drug-store pull-up things. I suspect you are charged for them (although I don't know for sure), unless you declared indigent.

I don't know about prison, but I suspect they have a similar system. That's how it worked in our jail, anyway. In prison I suspect you'd be placed in a medical block, but not in general population.

The tax burden borne by most taxpayers in so-called "socialist" countries is far, far lower than it is in the US, when you take in the entire picture (all types of taxes, premiums/deductibles paid on private plans, fees paid for other social services, etc). Less regressive and more progressive tax codes permit the government to provide more for its citizens. We like to claim we have lower taxes than most other countries, and it's true, we do: on very high income earners. Once you get past about $100,000 in income or so, tax disparity between the United States and virtually every other industrialized nation starts growing apart very, very quickly (and that's to say nothing of corporate taxes - many of whom pay anywhere from nothing at all, to 1-2%).

Feel sorry for the taxpayers here. You still bear the burden of "free" healthcare. People who can't afford it visit the ER, tying up actual emergency services (I'm not blaming the victim here, mind you), and since the ER only has to stabilize them, they don't actually get well in the long term, becoming a further drain on medical services, racking up higher and higher bills - some of which wind up being subsidized by the federal government, others which wind up increasing your private insurance rates because hospitals have to start charging $34 for a diaper to make back the money from all the unpaid bills.

The last time I visited an ER in the states, I was uninsured. They worked out a plan for me to pay back the entire amount in three years, 100% interest free. That's how desperate they were to get people who would actually pay their bills.

I recently got to experience a Canadian emergency room trip and it was far, far superior to any of my experiences at home in the US. And cheaper, even for an uninsured resident (the trip there was for a friend, not me).
