    Default Computer Problem

I been having trouble this since yesterday. I got red x thing on my computer and every time I click on it, a pop up pops up asking me to download some virus program. I think it a virus that I got from my friend looking up stupid porn on my laptop >.<.

Well here a picture of it and I want to know how to get rid of it.

Granted, that looks like the Windows XP security center icon (which will warn you when there's no anti-virus detected)... I've never seen a message popup message quite like that. So if that's the actual error message, I'd be willing to say you've got a virus or some form of malware - and I'd advise NOT downloading whatever it's insisting you download.

avast! antivirus - high security and protection from malware with anti-spyware and anti-rootkit software built in
Download that, run the boot time scan. Problem solved... and yes that is a virus you are plagued with.

    SmitFraudFix

Smitfraudfix cleared up a problem extremly similar to that, just follow the instructions on it and it should dominate that stuff off of there, then if you can find the folder it was in DELETE. I forgot to end the process of a virus and wondered why its folder wouldn't delete.

I've had this on my old Windows XP computer before. It's definitely a virus, but on my old computer it was called "Windows Antivirus 2008" and was impossible to destroy , so I had my computer reimaged.

This is not really a virus, it is an unwanted program that installed itself most likely from a script off a web page. It could have come from ANY web page, scripts can be minimized to the size of a dot on the page, so even a reputable page can be infected and you would not know. Don't blame your friend without more info. Most are annoying but not that harmfull, fake virus alerts usually are about selling you a particular brand of antivirus program.
Get Spybot Search & Destroy The home of Spybot-S&D! , Adaware Ad-Aware 2008 Free - Lavasoft
Run these scans and see what they find.
