What are your thoughts on Obamacare (aka Affordable Care Act)? Here is a link discussing the repercussions of it: Obamacare to Bankrupt Businesses and Families Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Things I like about it and things I don't. But my main cause for concern is the greed by many businesses like Dennys, Papa Johns, Applebees ect.... that are cutting hours for their employees or raising their prices to pay for the costs. Dennys wants to impose a 5% increase on your bill and thinks in turn that you will tip your server less. I mean what the hell is wrong with people.

Honestly, I think it's more about it trying to save their asses from going under, if they go under, that's less places for us to go eat out at, should we be in the mood, which means we'll be eating more at home and paying a little more than we want to out of our wallets or purses

You forget these guys are millionaires, they can easily afford the extra costs, it's the fact they don't want to

So this is an interesting thing though I dont know all the details but from what i have researched about american health care something really does need to happen. I think most business are overreacting and using it as an excuse we had a similar issue with a new tax in Australia and 9 months later its basically affected nothing.

But anyway I dont think its perfect and it may cause some issues but it seems to be to at least an attempt at fixing a current issue.

Sorry just reading this confused me its generally cheaper to make your own food than go out and pay for it.

Also just on a general note the way people earn money over their from tips is terrible it seems horribly imbalanced.

The cost to Papa John's to be compliant with the Affordable Care Act is less than the cost of the free pizzas they give out each year for Super Bowl.

I would be careful about linking from Alex Jones' website Infowars as Alex Jones is known to distort the truth to his view and manipulate the news for whatever means he feels necessary for whatever conspiracy theory he's peddling ergo- I DON'T TRUST Alex Jones as a newsource at all!

However, my thought on Obamacare is that it's a bloated change to the system but there are things I like in it. Things like my mom not being denied coverage cause of a previous condition or friends of mine who can stay on their parents' plans til they're 26. I don't like the indvidual mandate, I don't like the fact that it was focused on instead of putting people to work while Obama had a friendly congress AND senate. I would have focused on putting people to work FIRST and then, maybe work with the other side for the healthcare laws.

My thought on the CEOS of comapnies like Denny's, Papa John's, Applebees doing what they are doing is the refusal of the rich and the elitists from paying for what a worker should have- access to affordable care. I am sorry, but I really hate the insurance scam in the US and how it's bankrupted people in my family just cause they can't afford the bills. I have had several family members almost lose their homes because they don't have insurance, can't afford it and can't qualify for Medicaid casue they make too much- I feel the whole system is broken and favors the elites and the rich. I think people should be allowed care even though they aren't rich.

I know I sound biased but that's cause I have seen the worst of the insurance companies and I have seen what they can do to people for their money if you end up in a hospital. Fortune favor the bold I have some insurance but I know I can probably lose it down the road.

I apologize if my views might offend anyone but this is making me feel VERY emotional as I think about my family members and the problems they have had with insurance companies over the year and the relentless, shameful greed from said greed.

I hate that you have to pay for it. But they say it be affordable for everyone. I've always wished everyone be covered and not have to buy health insurance.

There are several things that were either not addressed or mis-represented in this discussion.

    1) The companies that you said are all Franchises owned and managed by individual less rich and elite owners. If I was a buisness owner I would raise prices to offset cost for additional government requirements. I find it funny that people are bitching about the extra $0.20 per pizza that Papa Johns says it will charge.

    2) The afordible care act dosnt make healthcare affordible. It only mandates private healthinsurance for everybody (with subsidized insurance for low income and un-employed). A huge problem with the healthcare system which, as far as I could find, is that providers still run as a for profit agency, so no costs would be truely cut.

My personal opinion is that Obama care is a poorly thought out half assed attempt at socialism. It is purposly confusing to read, difficult to implement and expensive to run (higher taxes people). An Insurance mandate should be set up and run by a state not forced on them by the federal government. as you can probibly tell I am againsed big brother.
