US Veterans Forcibly Sequestered in Mental Hospitals is Indefinite Detention Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

As a vet I looked at this and it struck me this was the same thing that the USSR did to control the dissidents.
Whats next; teachers, preachers, or perhaps you or me.

May I respectfully ask for another independent source? Infowars tends to be a little "eccentric" with the claims it makes at times.

That's... not the law. It's also under the category of disorders usually diagnosed before an individual reaches the age of 18. Do you have any credible evidence that this diagnosis is actually used to muzzle soldiers?

Vet in Psych Detention Over Facebook Postings | Military.com

While it's just one veteran he was detained by the state of Virginia for posting anti-government and possibly "ominous" posts on his Facebook wall. He wasn't charged with anything and was committed to a psychiatric ward for further evaluations. I believe that he's been released by a different judge after just a few days though.

It's a double edged sword. When someone goes crazy at a movie theater, dressed as the joker, and murders innocent people, we all clamor, why wasn't he put in a mental hospital. I don't know anything about this case, so I can't comment with any authority, but if he was making threatening comments, shouldn't something be done? Shouldn't there be some sort of response? The thing about Virginia is that we all remember the rampage that occurred at Virginia Tech University.

A a side note, I've talked about homosexuality in the 50's and 60's, and if you were suspected to be gay, you could be put into a residential mental facility against your will. Alan Ginsburg wrote his extended poem "Howl" based on his interment because he was gay. When my mom discovered my gay porn my senior college year, she took me to a psychiatrist whose office was also at a residential mental facility. I came close to becoming a patient against my will. Every case must be judged on its own merits. Determining who is a threat and who isn't is a very difficult job.

Correct Dogboy "Every case must be judged on it's own merits"
Psychiatrics claim that sufferers have “a recurrent pattern of negativistic, defiant, disobedient, and hostile behavior toward authority figures that persists for at least 6 months” which includes:

    • Persistent stubbornness
    • Resistance to directions
    • Unwillingness to go along with the crowd
    • Deliberately annoying others
    • Testing limits by ignoring orders

Are these the merits they are using? This along with the other freedomes are what the government is chipping away at every day.
I also "cling to my guns and my Bible" Does this make me "Deliberately annoying others" or "Unwillingness to go along with the crowd"
Once again we are jumping on the slippery. My only problem is the lack of due process.

They can't hold you unless they find you to be a danger to yourself or others. Sadly there's a stigma against needing or seeking mental health care. It might be from how horrible it was when dogboy was our age or that people are too proud to admit they need help. and even when people seek help, they might be turned away or unattended to in a timely manner or just be shrugged off by the professionals.

But they can not keep people unless they are a credible threat to themselves and/or others and saying "serve heads" can be and should be considered a threat.
