Default No gui linux distro that supports minecraft server

Does anyone know of one that has a somewhat easygoing instillation for minecraft?

Ubuntu server I guess? Minecraft doesn't have any dependencies beyond Java, as far as I know. You'll need to use openjdk, as none of the linux distros have the Sun JRE in their repos anymore. But Minecraft works fine with OpenJDK anyway.

How much Linux do you know? Are you able to install stuff from the cli, and download stuff from it (using wget, probably).

Any linux distro will work with or without a gui. You can even install linux onto the target machine and uninstall the gui and still have a perfectly working system. Windows, on the other hand is much more complicated as it's pretty much all integrated within itself, so you can't really remove the gui without going through a lot of trouble.
