What do you think the result to the adult diaper market would be if for some reason or another every one needed diapers (all babies, children and adults). How do you think current diapers would change, how would they stay the same, if every one had a vested interest in the quality of adult diapers.

They would get thinner, quieter and more absorbent. Plus there would be more competition and more choices.

Think that would ruin everything because our landfills would be filled with diapers and there would be more competition out there for diapers. Stores would probably run out of diapers fast, diapers would become crappy due that companies only think about mass production over quality these days, and probably more people would become DL's or TB/AB considering they gave diapers a chance and liked it!

They would be ten times the price, and made much worse than they are today. The diaper companies would be like the power and oil companies; charging whatever they want, knowing they have you where they want you. As for the land fills. I guess we would have to recycle them. Paper towel anyone?

I kinda agree. Right now, it seems like Pampers and Huggies aren't too interested in what their customers want or don't want.

    I'd go cloth...
I think they may have a lot more color, fit, style and size variety. Kind of like underwear.

If something were to happen resulting in the entire world having to wear diapers, they'd probably find a way to fix it again so they didn't have to (remember most people would probably do just about anything to not wear a diaper). Ignoring all of that and sticking with the premise of the question, "normal" people would probably demand diapers that did their job efficiently, consistently, cheaply, without any fanfare, and likely be as non-diaperish as possible; Likely resulting in designs that the abdl community wouldn't enjoy as much.

Taking into account economic factors and the sheer logistical problem of creating and disposing of quite literally billions of diapers a day (even if you only count developed countries), everyone might just start using plain old cloth and nothing much else would change (other than a massive water shortage from all the washing).

Allowing for some advancements in technology and depending on how well/cheaply (reusable) it could be made, I might imagine a diaper in which the entire thing is basically a cath bag (maybe with a slightly absorbent insert inside to keep things from sloshing too much), with a fast acquisition layer on top to transfer urine into it via a process similar to osmosis. That way it could be "changed" on the go by opening a valve emptying it into the nearest facility designed for doing so (public restroom), only being changed for real at a more convenient time (such as at home).
