About a year ago I tried to install LiteStep on my laptop... with devestating consequences. I asked someone why it didn't work for me, and he said it was because I was using Windows Vista.

So it's a Windows shell replacement, but only for OSs below Vista? Ah well. Is there any way I could get this to work on my computer? Anyway at all?

It hasn't been updated since 2005, that was before Vista's comercial release. So chances are of it supporting vista is very small. Although the website is kept upto date.

to be honest, i think replacing explorer isn't really going to effect your perfromance, if anything its going to make life a little harder due to some incompatability. Most modern machines are more than powerful enough to handle XP.
