    Default What should I do?

    So, I need a little help with filling my spare time.

    I work nights, so on my nights off if I'm not out drinking then I end up sitting at home playing online, reading and watching movies. And it's really boring!

    There isn't really much I can do when I'm not working, since I only get one night off a week, or if there are two nights then they're seperate so I can't ruin my sleeping schedule to do things during the day or it affects me at work the next night.

    Where I live isn't really a 24 hour city, most things close at 10pm, unless it's a pub or nightclub or the casino, none of which I want to do all that often, certainly not every night off I get!

    So... what can I do to fill the time?

    This is a hard one. I can't really help you with night-time activities, but I would like to say a few words about depression. When I was working night shift for a few months, I started to get depressed. I chalked it up to not getting enough sun. Just, be careful you don't start slipping into a slump. That's all I want to say.

    I'm afraid I'm out of ideas too here. I'm not a night person (our sleeping / life schedules clash like women and parallel parking :tongueout. ) , but maybe you can come up with a few interesting projects to do during the night (and that preferably don't wake up those who are trying to sleep around you). Or if you own a decent enough camera, go out and take night time pictures every once in a while.

    Do something interesting. I know! Take up cooking! Or martial arts!

    For one night a week, which has to suck , you can either:
    - Start learnin' a new skill
    - Games
    IMO.

    For the first... another language? Iunno. I guess that would suck up some time.
    Not all that fun when ya think about it tho =/

    Or, the second, pick up a decently long game that isn't WAY to short or long.
    I suggest Mass Effect. It is pretty lengthy and fairly fun.
    Or Marrowind, just 'cause I love that game ;3

    I know how you fill. I live in the middle of nowhere. Thar nothing to do her at night but chill with my friends and play video games

    I do not know if this will help in your situation, but when I worked a straight night shift I altered my schedule slightly to accommodate the world of day walkers (Oh how I hate being one of them now! )

    Anyway, when I was off a night I would go to bed in the morning and short change my sleep by several hours and get up in the early afternoon to take advantage of the sunlight and activities therein (not a fan of the sun, it is unnatural you know) and then, since I didn't sleep much that day I would be ready to go to bed early that night, roughly 4am, get up a little earlier than usual the next day and have several hours for social activities before work that night.

    So I felt like I had two days off rather than one and since I slept plenty before work I could still function well without altering my my sleep schedule enough to throw my circadian rhythm out of sync.
