Thread: Why do you like most about being a member of ADISC?

  1. #1

Cool Why do you like most about being a member of ADISC?

Ok, perhaps the answer may be obvious, even as if asking the question, "Why do you like to breathe?". --But I would like to throw out the question for folks as to what do they like most about being a member at ADISC?

I'm not sure if there has been another post about this, but I think this would be a great opportunity for folks to share their thoughts on this topic. I posted this on this forum as I feel it has probably the most common-shared interest of diapers --whether incontinent, AB, TB, Furry Baby, etc., it appears most members have a connection to diapers.

The reason I am asking this is that I am feeling a little retrospective right now of the past several weeks that I have been here. For me, it has been a place to retreat to and interact with other AB/DL folks. Even though I haven't posted any specific things yet asking for specific items of help, just being here and listening to others share their AB/DL/TB/Fur/etc. experiences helps me feel better each day.

I appreciate all of the wonderful posts and discussions. It is both educational, as well as entertaining. I have come to know and accept this side of myself more than previously joining the site. It feels as if we are among friends here, even if we may have a lot of differences in opinions, backgrounds, interests and age.

Thank you ADISC for being here and providing this place for us!

I think it would be great to hear other people's experiences since being here, how the site has helped them, and what are the parts of ADISC that you enjoy best?

It is a forum within which I can provide the help and support I was never given, and largely continue to not receive.

Like me, hate me, I'm pretty blunt and don't mince words, instead giving a clear picture of reality as it is as opposed to how we may wish it. It is this kind of perspective that I think is missing in the lives of many of our members; it's not that I am disinterested, but rather that I am so keen to provide long-term help that I do sometimes miss the more sensitive short-term and immediate emotional aspects of things.

But, yes, it is interesting for me to interact with people whom I would not meet IRL. I am not a member of the larger *B/DL community, as I am a very private person out in real-world-land, and have only met two people in said community--both through ADISC.

I am interested, too, in picking through people's purported ideas and proposals, and seeing just why they believe these things. Is it worthy of belief? Is it well-grounded? What thinking has gone into this belief? It's always interesting to crawl around in someone else's mind and thinking--especially when they have not given thought to why they believe as they do. It is an interesting experience, and usually both sides come out with more insight than they had before.

This said, I most enjoy being surprised or otherwise finding that I've under-estimated someone here. I like seeing people who are thinking and cognizant, despite their age, background, training, or approach. This is always a pleasant discovery.

I like ADISC for the fact i can talk to like minded people without hiding some of my secrets.

I've made some amazing people through this forum. I never want to lose their friendship.

So "The People Here" is my answer

    Few reasons.
    1. Activity. you can go through 10 pages of posts which have had updates in the last 24 hours. not many sites can boast that.
    2. demographic. At first when i realized it was a teen friendly/encouraged site, felt a little weird (as i am twice age of some people on here), but it's kinda neat and refreshing to read about some of the issues facing that age group, help and support them, share my wisdom (if i have any..)
    3. not porn. I'll admit, sometimes that is what you are looking for, and this site isn't it, but i cant think of any other site that ISN'T porn or sex centered.

Its very active and most people are decently friendly and share the same likings. what could be better than that.

This may sound sad, but I like ADISC because it's almost like having friends (which I hope evolves into actually having friends). Between being busy with my family and my career I've avoided nurturing any real long-term friendships. I have plenty of occasional friends that I might go out with every 6 months or so but those are mainly surface encounters and I haven't had a deep friendship, other than my wife, for quite a number of years. My last real close friend died about 4 years ago.

Ya, I know what you mean. I do have a lot of friends, but mostly superficial. You know . . . . not folks that I share deep thoughts or a lot of regular activities. Definitely not ones I would share my DL/AB interests with. A lot of that has to due with my own situation of being busy and the activities I do with my family.

So again, I agree that it is a lot like having a bunch of close friends that you can share some of your deep feelings and experiences. Part of this is the "cyber" environment where there is a level of anonymity, but mostly its about the chance to talk to others who actually have an understanding of this interest.

ADSIC reassures me I'm not alone or a unique freek in my diaper desires. The reviews, photos, stories, antidotes and positive quality of the members & staff here make it make this one of my faverite sites on the web regardless of subject.
