Thread: What did YOU learn today?

Question What did YOU learn today?

Well I thought this thread would be a good idea, and maybe help us all learn something from eachother.

Here's the idea: Post something that you know today, but didn't know yesterday. It can be as silly or as life-changing as you care to share with us.

Note that you don't always learn something new every day, but if you did today, I'd love to hear what it was! ^_^

I'll start: Thanks to a post from Loopy, I ended up finding out what a "budgerigar" was. Turns out, a budgerigar is a small parrot, and the only species in the Australian genus Melopsittacus. My first guess would have been some sort of pastry...

    Live and learn, eh?

I learnt that making an arc light based on a slide mechanism was easier than using solenoids.

Yeah, that's the big thing I learnt today! (I am working on recreating a lamp similar to this one )

I learned that when I don't sleep I have really bad mood swings as well as it makes Toy Story 3 make me want to cry every five minutes (even Ken first seeing Barbie made me tear up a bit).

I started reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" today and learned on the first page that dark matter is 100 percent efficient compared to nuclear fission which is only 1.5 percent efficient. I also learned that just a few molecules of dark matter is equivalent to the atom bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. The last thing I learned is that it is extremely unstable and it burns immediately when brought in contact with anything, including our own atmosphere.

Today I learned the hard way that locking your keys inside your work van in someone driveway make the owner of the driveway vary unhappy. I also learned from my boss the ford E250 work vans have a large security problem. All you need to unlock your van is a Philips head screw driver and a pair of pliers.

Adolph Hilter used kids in his Army but thankfully not as front line combat soldiers.

I also learned some Medical Billing & Coding procedures at school.

This is what I learned today:

I backed my car into a cop car, the other day.
Well he just drove off, sometimes life's ok.
I ran my mouth off a bit too much, oh what did I say.
Well you just laughed it off, it was all ok.

And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on any way, well.

A fake Jamaican took every last dime with a scam.
It was worth it just to learn some sleight-of-hand.
Bad news comes don't you worry even when it lands.
Good news will work its way to all them plans.
We both got fired on exactly the same day.
Well we'll float on good news is on the way.

And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on, ok.
And we'll all float on, alright.
    Already we'll all float on.
No, don't you worry, we'll all float on.
Alright, already, we'll all float on.
Alright, don't worry, we'll all float on.

Alright already we'll all float on.
Alright already we'll all float on.
Alright don't worry even if things end up a bit too heavy.
We'll all float on...alright. Already we'll all float on.
Alright already we'll all float on, ok.
Don't worry we'll all float on.
Even if things get heavy, we'll all float on.

Alright already we'll all float on.
    (Alright)
Don't you worry we'll all float on.
    (Alright)
    All float on.....
