    Any Video Converter Free
    Microsoft Office 2003 Standard Edition
    GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)

Every machine I own has the following.

    Google Earth
    Google Chrome
    WinRar

I don't install an office suite because I just use google docs or other browser-based programs for that.

--VIM. If I work on a computer, it gets this. Period.

    --VLC.

--Eclipse. It's a buggy, bloated pig, but it's worth it. When I watch our C developers respond to "So where is this function used?" by doing a text search through the entire source tree... I die a little inside.

    --Firefox. E4X is so hot...

    Windows:

--7Zip. Every computer I've touched got this along with VIM installed on it.

--Open Cmd Here powertoy. Why do default file browsers fail so horribly? On windows you need... something... anything other than Explorer. I often use muCommander.

    --Process Explorer.

    OS X:

    --Path Finder. Finder is lame.

--Quicksilver. (This is the first time I've felt tempted to do some free programming on the side... this project needs some love.)

--Better Zip (because the 7zip GUI on OS X sucks right now )

--Tinker Tool (because I'm not going to remember all the defaults names)

--Steer Mouse (It's sad you need something like this, but you do )
