Thread: Violent cinema!

    Default Violent cinema!

    This is a simple poll.

Do you enjoy violent cinema as much as my (sick, sick) mind does?

For the record, I enjoy grisly violence in the movies as long as it is fictional and the result of special effects. I have no desire to watch people getting hurt in the real world, after all.

    So, here is the poll.

I do like epic battles, and there is nothing better that a bad guy getting decapitated in a movie/game. Over the top violence is fine by me, as long as it has a context.

However, I can barely stand things like "pro" soap wrestling, MMA and pro boxing. I just do not like seeing people getting injured...

I love action and gore. Your talking to a guy that laghed though Sweeney Todd.

Violent movies are good, but the only time I've really winced was the nipple scene in Crank High Voltage. That was a bit much. The shotgun bit was hell funny though.

Battle Royale is a personal favourite of mine. And i laughed at that, so I have no issue with gore. People are too sensitive about this stuff these days.

The sad thing is, Hostel is rather tame in comparison to some of the horror films I have in my DVD collection.

Well for some reason I get squeemish when it comes to extreme gore. But epic battle scenes are priceless, Braveheart, LOTR trillogy, Kingdom of Heaven. Some of my most favorite old school slaughter battle movies

It totally depends on what violence it is and how/why its been done. However I was fine with watching both Hostel movies and those really are just torture porn.

But with Saw it was always done so the victims could escape and show them that their lives have meaning or are worth living rather then being taken for granted.

In war movies, its understandable there's violence. Bullets do actually hurt and movies should really show off their full effects when it hits a body or even animals. Rather then just looking like a flesh wound or blowing someones head clean off or in case of The Boondock Saints, blowing up a cat completely in one shot.

But violence is real, so I don't see why it should be excluded from movie.
