Hello there.
Okay, so I'm a bit new to the incontinence threads... But I have this issue that I just wanted to check if someone here had experience with.

-Basically, I am worried that I might have an OAB- And that it might lead to incontinence somewhere in the near future.

-I go to the bathroom to pee 8 times or so on an average day.
(Unless I'm diapered up, then I tend to relax a bit more- and only have to go 4 or 5 times, or so.)

-I also sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

I don't know if I should be worried, but I guess I'll see what some of you can give of advice.

Best regards.
-Chris.

That does sound like an over active bladder. However I would suggest discussing it with your doctor.

I happen to have all of the classic OAB symptoms and it has on occasion lead to urge incontinence. After going through tests and pills, I got my doctor to prescribe me diapers.

I can only second DLScottsman - this really sound like OAB.

Do yourself the favor and let it check by a doctor - stay safe!

Cheers

Any medical condition that is left untreated will have the potential to get worse. Yes, untreated oab can and often will lead to incontinence.

And yes, 8 bathroom trips per day, plus at night, is excessive. It sounds like you do have oab already. Get it checked out.

I agree with al above time to see the docs . And only want to ad that tecnichly OAB is actually a form of IC (mild - Moderate ) and in Moderate Urine IC night time also means Nocturia which is connected to OAB (as is actually OAB in it self )

As someone with mild OAB that sounds about right.

Thanks for all of your replies.
I don't really know if I ever would collect courage enough to consult with a doctor.
To be quite honest, I am a DL- and I do wear diapers as often as possible, so I don't really mind.
I was just kind of curious.
With that said, I probably should tale myself together some time, since I don't live alone- and obviously can''t wear 24/7.

Dude, seriously - a doc is the best person to talk to.
Contrary to other folk they have understanding. They have a fully professional view on this and listen to your worries and fears.
They are the ones that can find out what´s going on and explain it to you. Something very important. You need to know what happens with your body.
There is a wide range of things OAB can be treated with.

I always made highly positive experiences with doctors.
Even if it was for a completly differend thing(there is more of me not in the best shape apart from the bladder) and not their field of specialisation at all - they showed interest and compassion(wearing a diaper get´s quickly noticed in a wide array of examinations). They even made up their mind trying to figure out possible connections from their base of knowledge(the body is an interwined system so much is possible). An dermatologist came up with suspecting the autonomic nervous system(a new clue that´s going to be pursued). Can you believe that? A friggin' dermatologist! Who would ever expect to get help with pissing himself by a skin-doctor?!

Moral of the story - use their services. Their field of work exist to help other humans. No need for shame or fear.

Cheers

8 times a day? damn...that's me before lunch time :S
but I do drink coffee and moderate water intake
I sometimes wonder if this is because I wear and use diapers a lot previously, but for the last 2 years I've only worn for 1 week out of 5 as I work away and home for that week.

I've been through this. Being a DL actually makes it way harder to accept you just might physically need diapers- even when you legitimately do. All I can say it try your best to overcome your fear and fact the reality of your problems. And once that's done, try to enjoy your wish coming true of wearing them all the time.

My incontinence issues started with post void surges, then to OAB now I am diaper dependant as my issue continued to get worse, its a double edge sword as you need diapers to prevent wet pants if you dont make the bathroom but since your diapered it speeds up your loss of control thats why doctors donot recommend diapers right away.

Go see your doctor and get an urologist appointment theres nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about there are millions of us in north America that are dealing with incontinence issues and are back in diapers as Adults

Hi, it sounds like I have OAB also because I pee like 8-10 times a day and multiple times at night. I do wear diapers 24th seven to help with this. Often I don’t feel the urge until it’s too late and by that point I can’t really hold long enough to find a bathroom in time. Sometimes I have random dribbles during the day as well. I’m severely visually impaired So it makes being able to find or get to a bathroom in a safe manner a lot more difficult, diapers have made being able to travel independently a lot more stress-free and I usually change when I get home. I do drink coffee, seltzer, tea, water or homemade smoothies, which will all make me pee. I decided some years back that I’m not gonna worry about the urge to urinate controlling where I go Diapers save my ass on a daily basis

If you are keeping well hydrated 8 times a day is normal.
Once at night is also normal.
Other disorders can also cause having to go more often are things like diabetes.

I wish that I was just once at night. My sleep sux because of this. I have consulted with my urologist and he prescribed a drug to help, and it has. But I just read where long term use of this class of med is associated with Alzheimer's. So, another trip to the urologist is in order.

Uh, no. Your math is WAY off.

The average adult bladder holds 400-600ml. We'll say 500ml every time you pee, just to keep it simple. That is equal to just over 16oz. Now, well hydrated means drinking at least 64oz per day and addi g to that based on body mass. Keeping it simple, lets stop at that.

Some of that water intake you sweat or breathe out, but keeping it simple lets say you pee it all out instead. So 64oz total intake divided by 16oz per every pee is equal to peeing 4 times per day.
This is simple math, and needing to go even 6 times per day is excessive.

Well said. With a normal intake 3-4 times would ne average and 0-1 at night. Before my bladder got on holidays I was able to sleep through even when drunk AF...

if your seeing a doctor its worth mentioning the symptoms, doctor deal with these issues all the time, otherwise there wouldn't be so many products and meds for incontinence.

I know i have OAB also i be like 5times a day way more when im working and its busy so i wear pads for convenience on busy days at my job but its been better lately since im on this new 💊 its not for incontinence but this focus/ADHD pill seems to help some so i uavent been wearing my pads too much but i think i should just in case

Caffeine and alcohol can cause similar symptons to OAB in some people, as can some food items and medications. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I was advised to try cutting some things out in turn to see if it made a difference to my bedwetting and occasional daytime urgency (which sometimes resulted in accidents). Citrus drinks and cigarettes seemed to be among the culprits, though for some reason I still wet the bed on a Friday or Saturday night after I'd had a few pints in the pub!

I also have sleep apnea and sometimes insomni and I pee multiple totimes a night while trying to get to sleep, my sleep would be far worse if I had to get up 3 or 4 times to pee and I’d never get sleep, to make things worse I only get like 5 hrs or so of continuous sleep. I wet my diaper 2 to 6 times a night. The past few nights it’s been closer to 6times. During the mid day at work i wet my diaper 2 or 3 times within 3 hrs and usually once more by the time I’ve gotten home .once home I change into a new diaper and usually wet that 3 or 4 more times, before changing into the on one I’ll wear all night. I’d say this solnds like OAB
