ABDL ham operators?

i do a lot of stuff in life, i like being on the water, i drive trucks, and am a mechanic, but have always had a radio backround due to my father, he was a ham operator and now i am, i have even worked as a radio tech and still do sometimes, ive met abdls that do all types of work and hobbies outside of abdl, except the ham radio hobby, that one that seems like not too many people are into, i could not really go on air and ask about it. i always wonder, that when im transmitting, could the station im speaking to be into this? ive spoken to many people, on bands outside of hf, i work a lot with marine band and other Private licensed frequencies also, i love ham, theres just something about it, knowing nothing is between my tx and the person rxing, ive got nice gear, mobile hts and base, why not find the others like me into it. maybe make it even more intereasting.
