Having seen the dynamics of visitors to this site for a couple of weeks now (at this moment there are about 800), I find it remarkable that there were 17,841 visitors on the evening of Dec 4th.

"Most users ever online was 17,841, 04-Dec-2017 at 20:51."

So what happened that evening?

distributed denial of service. that's what happened

Too cold to play outside so everyone came here to play!

I read about the DDOS attack and felt sorry about it, but I didn't realize that it would also count as visitors. Sounds logical now.

An alternative fact! I prefer this explanation.

Much like the rare occurrence that the planets line up in such a manner as to appear in a line from a specific point of view; so has the userbase upon this website taken to have happened to be here in such masse upon that day.

That's just my :twocents:. They aren't even shiny pennies either...

Actually, that has never happened. It's just a myth that the planets could ever line up (due to varying orbital tilts). Heck, it's been 1000 years since they even all appeared in the same sky.

Site got hacked. Moo posted about it, might still find the thread close to the top in the news/admin section
