This morning has been weird.

Woke up to a normal wet nappy. I've been tending to void pretty much as soon as i wake up. No problem otherwise.

Stripped to take a shower, and noticed the colour of the pee in my nappy was a bit strange. I took another look. (I know when i'm hydrated and it's clear, and when i haven't been drinking enough, and it's yellow - this was a different colour again, slightly reddish brown in the crotch area)

Jumped in the shower, felt the need to pee, let out a very small stream, then OWWWW, that hurt!

Just now, at work, I went to the toilet, let out a good stream, then OWWWW, that hurt again.

Looking into the bowl, the water looked like it was layered colour from clear at the surface, to a deeper brownish red at the bottom. Different to a bowl full of yellow pee.

Is this the beginning of an UTI?

My voids have gone from frequent small pees a few weeks back before my cystoscopy, to large floods (I sometimes have felt like i'm swimming in a pool beforehand it all wicks away).

This now has me worried...

Sounds like bleeding to me. Definitely something to call your doctor about.

Red/brown in the urine is definitely blood. And urine has salt in it, so salt on a bleeding wound stings.

Go see your doctor asap.

I had a UTI and I had to go to the emergency room in the middle of the night. They gave me an IV antibiotic along with pills. The IV antibiotic started working almost immediately. The pain when I peed was like passing a kidney stone. As others have said, better see a doctor.

Toilet just before lunch, more post-void stinging, urine more yellow but a tad cloudy, and some pindrops of blood noticed in my pull-up.

That sounds like either a uti or kidney gravel passing. Either way, ouch. I'd see a doctor, fast.

Had another void about an hour after lunch, felt better, but a couple of pindrops of blood again on the toilet paper and in my pullup.

Got home this evening about 6pm, absolutely busting for a pee, and OMG! Razor blades again. Tonight, I'm in my nappy, peeing quite frequently, and most of those little releases end up near tears. I did a sizeable wee when I got home at 6pm, and then about 5 minutes after putting my nappy on about 30 minutes later. If that's not retention?

Whilst peeing, there's no pain, only when the bladder goes, "I'm done", and I can feel the muscle contract. I feel a dull ache in my abdomen most of the time.

Too many things on at work, so I didn't take the hint and come home. My regular GP doctor is not in tomorrow. But if I'm still feeling the same tomorrow, maybe I should present to hospital, and get them to ring my urologist?

Why are you waiting to see? You don't honestly think ignoring the problem is going to make it go away do you? Go see ANY doctor, asap. Heck, this likely does warrant a trip to the ER.

Go see a doc. Regardless of whatever it is dont let it fester.

So a urine test showed nitrates(?) and protein (blood) in the urine. It was cloudy (and a tad smelly too). So on antibiotics now :-(

Should I let my urologist know?

You had a urine test at a hospital or other urgent care center? Usually your discharge letters tell you to see your doctor within seven days of the visit.

No I went to my local GP. Am now about 3 weeks post-Cystoscopy, but this event may be tied to that, I dunno. Not had this thing before.

If your GP and your Urologist are within the same hospital affiliation or share records he will be informed and have the report if not yes you should call .
I am rather unique in that my GP is not affiliated or shares records with any of my specialist or either hospital , I think she enjoys being a mushroom because normally your GP coordinates your care and is captain ofbthe team ,my GP very much doesn't want to interact or have to keep up with my medical record , I had a different doctor who was there for 9 years when he left last year and this new doctor took over I had the shock of my life when I found out the names and addresses of my other prescribers weren't in the computer because it was never entered , then at my last visit I found out another shocking thing everytime I have an appointment the nurse quizzes you on medications and dosages and that's never entered into the system either ,so i asked them the obvious question they couldn't answer : what is the computer actually doing for you or me when you sit staring at it well talking to me , what info do you actually keep in the damn thing other than sending prescription refills does it serve a purpose ? And of all the freaky things they can't store multiple pharmacies in the software , and they are to stupid to pay attention to my pharmacist if he calls for a refill and send the prescription to a pharmacy that i don't use ,at this point my pharmacist has there "number" and calls the walgreens that i am not a customer of and transfers the scripts to my real pharmacy, it's really irritating why have a computer if you don't enter info or keep track of anything?

Here in Australia, the GP is divorced from care provided by specialists (like my Urologist). The GP (General Practice) doctors also don't (typically) work within any affiliations.

So, going to the GP today won't automatically flag my current issue with the urologist.

There's also no connections between GP's and pharmacists (generally). So I can go to whomever pharmacist I like, with a little bit of paper describing (officially) what's been prescribed.

At the very least you should notify your urologist about it, and tell him you're now on antibiotics. Also find out if he wants you to come in and see him too.

Tetra, Your situation with your doctors not communicating with each other and with your pharmacy is a serious problem. If I were in your place, I’d be looking for other doctors.

Bad business if the TEAM is not coordinating prescription medicines with the Pharmacist !
Two or more medicines making a TOXIC cocktail that can kill you or make recovery efforts difficult if not impossible
-OR- two or more (Expensive) medicines cancelling their effect resulting in throwing money down a toilet.
AND of course not taking any medicines that should be taken but alas ever shortening your life span.

So take two of these and call the undertaker - Oh that's right he is not in the loop either - Just great !

Best get that urinary problem checked out thoroughly your life longevity depends on it !

All my specialist communicate with each other , the reason my GP doesn't is discrimination , I am terminally ill and a pain patient so i have been refused primary care by every GP in town , so for primary care I go to the only place that can't say no a public clinic for homeless .Unfortunately thats the reality of doctors in this town thats why i spend so much time and money going to the city for doctors , 11 years ago my GP left town for a huge career advancement in another state she worried about the guy who took her practice not caring for me properly or the way she had ,so she briefed him on all patients but spent 4 hours just on my case , he swore he would take good care of me and that he understood how unique my case was and he lied , within two weeks of him taking the practice he sent me an unsigned letter firing me as patient and to add insult the hospital I used asked me to never come back because this clown could be covering for any other doctor and he refused to provide care for me , so I lost my entire local team , the only Doctors I didn't lose were the ones at NIH but they are even farther away then the city. It so bad here at the other hospital they know if i come in its a true emergency and my GP is useless ,even the nurses who haven't met me will ask me why my doctors are out of town and i usually just say something vague about "like it just worked out that way" then they Will lower there voice lean in to me and say "I work with these doctors every day, i take my family to the city , i know they suck ", only then do i admit how the locals treated me and dismissed me .

I have talked to many other people in the rare disease community and one thing thats pretty universal is many doctors disregard "zebras" ,because we are very complex and they have to really think and plan what they do.

In case your not familiar with the term "zebras" in medical school doctors are taught " if you hear hoofs don't think zebras think horses " in other words don't look at things as being complex , look at what's staring you in the face the obvious thing, so those in the rare community are all zebras because many times what they see is not what they have.
