    Default Anyone watching Le Mans?

Any other members watching or following the 24 hours of Le Mans (24 Heures Du Mans)?

Toyota did it again. You'd think they learned from last years soul crushing loss, but nope, they're already out. Both 7 and 9. Damn you Toyota. Who would have thought that we'd be wishing for a Toyota to be reliable!!!

I don't think it's the cars fault. I mean previously in Silverstone and Spa they ruled the podium. It is the fastest and relatively reliable in the previous race.

It's probably one of those Le Mans surprise... and I mean Porsche also had a problem there.

Also surprise winning for Aston Martin considering they are fielding an old car ocompared to Ford, Ferrari or Porsche. And I think it's fair and square winning. Even the Corvette squad says so.. I like the Corvette team they always been the most laid back and really showing that they come there to have fun too.

Also last note is the future of LMP1... Porsche reportedly want to go out.... And even the sole private team times is really close to LMP2... They need to differentiate more on that.

Yea it was a very strange event. All of the factory P1 entries ran into issues and the winning car at one point was over 15 laps down and climbed back up through the P2 field to take overall victory. Jackie Chan DC by Jota Sport Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 almost won overall!

I seems like there really is some sort of Toyota curse. #7 and #9 fell out after limping around the circuit and screeching to a halt in almost view of the pit lane. #8 had been out of contention for some time before that. It makes you wonder whether that saying "Le Mans chooses it's winner" is true or not.

As for GTE Pro. I think it was a fair and clean battle for the most part. With about 4 minutes left the Aston made contact in Arnage with the Corvette, a lap later the Corvette started to get a flat; however, Jordon Taylor also locked it up and blew the second chicane on the Mulsanne and ran through the gravel, that could of easily created the puncture too.

Overall it was a good race and enjoyable to watch, aside from some wreck less LMP2 drivers, the race was great.

It's hard what to say will happen with the LMP1 class. With the loss of Audi to Formula E the whole class feels lost. After spending 40 minutes standing and chatting with the #8 Audi team after 2015's COTA race I became a fan of the team. With them gone I usually cheer for the Porsche teams. If Porsche leaves too the LMP1 class will for all intents and purposes be dead.

As for the GTE Pro finish I'm not 100% sure what happened. A friend and I suspect that Jordon picked up some debris on a tire and cut it. Jordon has already been in high pressure situations before ie 2017, 24 Hours of Daytona. He had a huge lead over the Aston all he had to do was hit his corners and race the track and the Aston would never catch him. Yeah he could have made a mistake but I doubt it. Otherwise I wish I was home to actually watch the race. I was traveling the whole weekend and was restorted to watching on my Galaxy S7.

In the mean time the Weathertech series is at Watkins Glen this weekend. I can watch that after missing the F1 action last weekend
