Diaper leaking over top

I like to add that Abena is a shell of what they used to be. M4 or L4 are both not that good. The capacity advertised is probably way over calculated. The padding also falls apart, the tapes are garbage, the plastic backing is weak. They're not for nighttime heavy wetters.

Make sure you're "aimed down", so to speak. This can reduce leaks.

Keep in mind this isn't always an option. For us more well endowed people, pointing down will usually mean the penis can't become fully erect when we get those usual nightly arrousals. Its guaranteed to wake us up in loads of pain.

Still, pointing up isn't a problem so long as you wear the correct size diaper and have the waist band actually extending up to your waist (near your belly button).

Also you said you go to bed substanstially wet, thats not a good idea, stop doing that if you really don't want to leak.
