I'm curious if anyone plays minecraft. What do you enjoy doing?

I consider it to be the best game for kids. Adventure, fighting, building, mods... Gosh, there is so much to do. I really enjoy building houses and redstone mechanisms. I enjoyed Minecraft back then when it was Alpha version. There was not even a bed lol 😂. I think I'm really good minecraft architect. My houses are functional and look good from inside and outside. I may share some photos with you if interested. The other thing is redstone. Back then there was just redstone and redstone torch. Which was not very useful. I can vividly remember pistons being brought(1.7.0). That was an amazing day but comparing it to today's minecraft it's nothing. I can build basic things like hidden staircase/room, counter, automated mob traps, elevators and my wonder so far is funcional tic tac toe for two players. Actually when I was done with it I was suprised how easy it is. Well when you know how it works then i guess it should be easy..stranger would be terrified what a mess it is 😁 (hope you get the idea)

That game was 6 years ago.

To each their own, but Minecraft; especially the modded packs still has a huge following with plenty of new accounts being bought each day.

I still play it from time to time and even attended the Minecon in Paris in 2012, but mostly the modded packs. I find vanilla; while having gotten better since what the game was in the beta when I started playing, has always been playing catchup to what coders and modders have been putting out.

Yeah. I got bored with vanilla survival mode so currently I'm just in creative and build stuff.. I played on many servers with real friends but I got tired of it in a few weeks or so.. I have tried a few mods too. Technic is interesting. Which mods have you used?

I know Minecraft is more than 6 years old. I can remember the public 'shock'. "What a graphics, like playing tetris..." , "Placing blocks, who would enjoy it?" Such a simple idea and it worked.

I was one of the "early" adopters of the game, what I mean is, (before everyone jumped on the bandwagon) It was good for it's time, everybody was talking about how shit the game was, how bad the graphics were etc, than a year later everyone jumped on the band wagon because it was cool.

Nowadays It's mostly kids playing it, and It's just gotten hell cringey with fan videos and fan music videos to the point it's like eh, It was fun but due to my own depression have lost intrest in most things in my life.

I still play it from time to time, but the entire culture around minecraft is what I call cringy if you see some of the fan videos etc you'll see what I mean, or the usernames etc.

Once things become mainstream generally the entire fan base tends to be very cringy, even when people talk about it, for example facebook at the time was new, unique etc, now everyone is focusing on "creating the next facebook" or the new uber etc, I've seen "web developers" want to create the next facebook or games that try to create the next minecraft, and just the wording of it is ehh really cringy lol.

So yes I do play it from time to time, but generally avoid the entire fan base because of what it has become for crying out loud most server admins for minecraft are "power hungry" and will ban you for no reason, most servers have turned to pay to win crap better yet changed the entire meaning of hacking, nowadays installing a xray plugin is no different than hacking the pentagon in the eyes of the server admins ahaha, most can't even code, a lot of them are full of skids, even tried hosting my own minecraft server advertised it, next minute I've got skids asking for admin, than they attempt to dox me and ddos the server.. it's so annoying to the point I don't bother, and I'm not the only one who experiences this.

Don't forget the stupid manuals people try profit from that tell you how to start a minecraft server and get users, like holy cow it's insane, most people leak it anyway and you can find it on specific sites.

But that happens with everything, starts off okay, everyone jumps on the bandwagon than eventually everyone ruins it, and it just becomes a thing of the past, for example the android store, and app development, nowadays everything is freemium and pay to win, etc.

A good example of it are memes, memes started off ok, funny decent, nowadays most memes are a pile of shit for example the harmabe videos it's like wtf.

That being said, I do play minecraft from time to time on single mode, nothing wrong with that, I just hate the culture and online community about it.

You even have 10 year olds writing "threads" on how to stop a minecraft hacker, and it's so funny reading it, I literally go to some minecraft threads for comedy, I'm a terrible person though, don't forget the oh look at this cool mod, here is a download link, sharecash fill out this survey to download this.. no.. just no.

I'll let you know of a hilarious story, back in the day roughly 2012 when it started getting really popular I joined someones minecraft server, obviously there server was "illegal" non-legitimate cracked etc, so I log in with a username which was common and before you know it, my ip gets banned for "hacking" xD and some idiot banned my isp from memory.

sorry this was more of a rant, though I like the game and still play it, i just dislike the fanbase somewhat.

Ive played on a few tbh. I was pretty active on the Hat Pack server when it was running which was hosted by the Hat Films trio. That one has since shut down, but I jump back and forth between Crackpack and Infinity Evolved lately.

That was a little bit more ranty if im honest, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. That being said, you will get annoying, childish, etc etc type players in anything that becomes remotely popular.

- Call of Duty - fanboys who think a high K/D ratio means something in RL
- GTA - PC version is modded to all hell, console versions filled with whiny youngsters who got the game because their parents are too lazy to read a rating label
- Rocket League - If you arent a certain skill level in competitive then you're no good
- Overwatch - Use a certain hero and you get hate messages, and god forbid you kill someone with one of the dreaded 'noob heros'.

You just have to take it with a grain of salt.

Ive never had any server admins become 'power hungry, ' but honestly if you're trying to bypass rules or crack features to use in ways they weren't intended then (Unless I am misunderstanding your response) imo you deserve to be banned. It is after all their server and the pay-to-win as you described is usually fundraising to pay for the server itself. If I am not mistaken, Mojang changed their service terms not too long ago and prohibit servers from allowing actual methods which allow users to 'get ahead.'

Ya, I tend to play minecraft quite often still. Currently been playing Direwolf20 modpack, the current one.
Honestly, I never get bored of it, but at the sametime I never have anyone to play with as not many seem to stick around long. -.-

Nope, I'm talking about the people who just ban for no reason just because they feel like it, not once have I ever been banned for a legitimate reason, and that's something I mean xD, what i was getting down to is that a lot of servers are either full of power hungry admins or 5 year olds with hacks who make out there so leet.

Examples of me getting banned for no reason.
1. Logged into a server that didn't have genuine account checking so because I had a common username got banned because it was my actual username that I didn't have control over at the time, because someone else had the same name on the server so I got banned for "hacking the account" even though it's my mojang account in the first place. lets say if there was a bar that didn't check ID and I came across and said I was obama, than the real obama (me with my real account) came along, yeah.. I literally mean that xD

2. Placed a block, got banned for griefing, literally. It was a server where you could build and no way I was breaking the rules as you only weren't allowed to build in someones area, I left enough room for you to build a whole city if you wanted to.

3. Got banned off a server for siding with someones opinion.

4. I could go on and on, but the bans are so childish and so power hungry I'm surprised those servers still have members.

5. Don't forget those servers that are just full of moderators and no real players abusing any newbie who comes...

Although it's against mojang's terms, there are still hundreds if not thousands of "pay to win games" and I'm serious, drives me crazy as I join a server and you literally have to buy the basic items for $5 than you can upgrade them, usually I just leave and never to come back again xD.

I would say you have at least 2000 servers run by 10 year old with there mothers credit cards using cringy hosting services that are over priced and designed to rip people off anyway.

I should clarify the BIG popular servers generally aren't as bad, I'm talking about the ones you come across on forums and crap the new ones that spring up, 9 out of 10 times you get banned for stupid crap.

That's how "minecraft" hosting was born, when you can buy a cheap vps for $10 and host your own server lol.

I should mention, I'm not bashing the game, just a small fraction of it's fanbase. for example I like cod but there are too many screechers on there to the point it deafens you, and there is always that one person snipping you for shits and giggles making it impossible to play the game.

I find it's just better to play with people you actually know rather than trying to find a random server anyway. I have never had much of a good experience with public servers and even semi-private servers,

The best server I was ever on was a server I played on for youtube along with many other youtubers. Whitelisted, and you had to go through an interview process to join and the majority of the members had to agree that they where a fit for the server.

That isn't say it was devoid of drama. We have had our fair share of it, and it's one of the reasons why I left. Not only that but I seem to piss off people when I talk, unintentionally of course ... surprise surprise ... my social skills are shit. XD So, it felt a lot like I was an outcast on the server. The person that didn't talk much because if they did, I could totally end up upsetting or pissing someone off by mistake. -.-

*religious minecraft server*
MarchinBunny god doesn't exist.
* Banned!

That being said, I love the game still, never gets old really, I like the HD texture packs, can't name one off top of my head though, but there good :D

Ahh ... no. I wasn't banned. I left. Someone asked me what I thought about their new path in spawn and I said I didn't like how it looked and I explained why I felt it was poorly designed and how it could be improved. That caused a pretty big commotion to the point where they would tell me I don't know what I am talking about. Then I would explain how I am an artist and went to the art insitute. This would tend to only make matters worse apparently. x.x

That isn't what caused me to leave though. What caused me to leave was because one of the members was having issues with windows 10 and I explained how majority of the time people who have these issues just don't know what they are doing. It's why in PC repair you have to ask, is your computer plugged in. Long story short, the person in question totally flipped out on me. Cursed me out, told me how terrible I was ... and such. I was trying to apoligize and explain I didn't mean it offensivily but it didn't really clam him down. Ya, I ended up leaving after that.

Edit: There was a religion person on the server. I never commented about it though. When we started the server over ... I actually built a church as my first build. o.o People asked if I was ok.

Nothing really clams people down these days, too many wild clams are to blame xD. Reminds me of the guy who got offended when I refused to call him a coder for knowing just how to write a hello world application, or that guy who got pissed off because I pointed out how bad his coding was and that his security is a nightmare and if he were to upload that site to a server, it'll go down in a minute due to sql injection, not only doesn't this guy hash, he encrypts the password stores the encryption password in the database etc.. funny stuff. I'm more of a "john carmack" I leave emotion out of things don't care if it hurts someone, truth hurts really. people make out that john carmack is some kind of sociopath in reality he just leaves emotion out of engineering and programming which is good, same should go for any profession that requires logic. (well anything that involves logic emotions should be kept out of) everyday conversations and opinions are fine to have emotion in. just not so much engineering, because emotions aren't always logical.

He was also the type of guy who didn't encrypt his hard drive (because he found it pointless) and didn't even use a anti-virus or anti-malware called him an idiot, couple months later a payload activates and guess what he has, crazy russian porn viruses xD ended up encrypting his hard drive for him lol.

You can't go around telling people your computers secure, if it's decrypted and can be stolen if someone breaks into your house I'll rather lose the data on my computer than have people get access to my bank account information stored someone in a cookie or something.

Getting back to minecraft, what are some of the better mods out nowadays? back when I was playing Too many items was the hot shit.

Honestly, too many to list lol. Also, depends on the version of Minecraft you are playing. 1.7.10 has a ridiculous amount of fantastic mods. The newer versions of Minecraft are having quite a bit of them ported over and so it's playing a bit of catch up, but it's getting to the point where 1.7.10 will eventually no longer be necessary to use.

Honestly, if you are not used to playing a fully modded Minecraft game, the amount in mod packs can feel pretty daunting. However, there is just so much more you can do that going back to vanilla feels like you just downgraded the game to a pre-alpha version XD.

Anyway, your best bet too looking at mods would be to watch youtubers. I personally, recommend Direwolf20, less focus on aesthetics and more focus on functionality which is what you need if you want to learn how to use the mods.

This thread skyrocketed.. I don't have that much time to respond so stay tuned. Czechoslovakian servers never bullied anyone and they never do today. I want to go to details... I was even Major Admin. Really.

Sorry xD :p how often do you play minecraft btw?

Haven't played Minecraft in quite some time, but gosh do I have good memories of it. Really wish there was a way to know how many hours it has sucked away over the years XD
Gosh that number is easily into the thousands.

Actually met my daddy looking for people to play with around 2011-2012ish and kept in touch ever since. Of course, I never knew he was a daddy and he never knew I was a little until December 2016. What a pleasant surprise that was ^^

Yup, been playing since 2010 when I first heard about it. Haven't really kept up with the updates since about Beta 1.8 though. Don't play it too much anymore, but when I do it's normally an older version like Alpha v1.0.0 that I'm nostalgic about. A while ago I was obsessed with finding older versions like Indev and Infdev. Some of them were incredibly hard to find (this was before the official launcher let you download old versions) and I had to rely on a proxy server and messing with path environment variables in Windows to get some of those versions working ;) Good days.

I couldn't imagine playing the older versions. It's like missing a huge chunk of the experience that makes Minecraft what it is these days XD.
After all the mods switch from 1.7.10 to 1.10.2 I don't think I am ever going to look back.

I never quite understood why some people get stuck on inferior versions of games just due to nostalgia. Besides having fun with bugs and crap, I don't typically ever see the point because the newer versions are just better by a land slide.

Haha maybe it's just me ;) I didn't get the paid version of Minecraft until a lot later and I always had an immense fascination of what the older versions were like. Granted they are mostly inferior but they did a lot of experimenting with different features and styles of gameplay that they later removed. Indev is a good example. It was before infinite worlds and you could choose map characteristics when creating them, from what I remember there was map shape, theme, size and depth. You could make floating world, beaches, 'hell' words with lava instead of water, it was so fun ;) Also some of the newer features like magic etc. I was never really into. That and the older versions run a lot better which is good for me since I play them on pretty old hardware

Minecraft Vanilla here. I used to be a moderator/administrator on a minecraft server for. . . god I was a moderator from 2010 up until 2012.(I think those dates are accurate anyway) Server went bad as owner dissapeared. Entire staff and I moved to another server. Played there till about late 2013, ended up the owner was a dick, we moved again to our own server, we staffed it this time and it just closed recently after the host's husband went insane and like deleted the server. Stuck with singleplayer now. Still in touch with all the people. Good community of people, shame the server we all played on no longer exists.

I mostly enjoy building cities/houses as well as cars, trains, planes, my specialty is early 1900's steamers though. I do build the occasional space ship from time to time though. Mega builds too like castles and things like that. The game is great for people who are continuously creative. I've built multiple massive cars, using redstone, so that the radio, dash guages, lights, turn signals, power windows, all of that worked (Even a working V6 engine). Was a lag machine though. lol. Took a few months to build. I probably have a picture of it around somewhere. . .
