How did it compare to the new ones? Or other newer diapers for that matter. I always wonder if the old Attends were really as good as people claim they were.
i should have specified that i'm talking about the euro-style Attends. nonetheless, the other replies give an insight as to the the relative comparibility. but, whilst the newer pads are much more absorbant, the cut of the old, hour-glass shape allows for a better fit and so inspires a greater confidence of leakproofness.
the replacement for the old, hour-glass style was widly condemned, for the annoying velcro tabs which jabbed at your hip and for their leaking, which was due to a combination of trimmer fit and, ironically, their greater absorbancy. the latter is because the pad would soak up, to saturation point, the fluid expelled immediately at the point of outlet; any further fluid would then just bounce of this
fully laden area, usually to leak at the front-sides at the crotch area because of the poorer, trimmer fit.
of course, as with Drynites, 'trimmer' is just a euphemism for smaller and less costly to produce.
with that being the case, the Tenaslip Maxi of the day took more of the retail consumer market, creating the legend that was, until it's demise into the 'clothlike' guise.
