So I was having issues with my HP Stream so I decided to call the customer service line and I ended up on this site:

http://supportlinenumber.com/hp-support.php

So I call the number and it didn't look like the same site I was on before in the middle of the night so I look through my history and find the right website I was on and then someone picks up and it was an Indian accent. I got scared about calling a scam number so I hung up and then they call back.

They don't stop calling back so I answer and he said we got disconnected. I tell him my worries and he asks me again when the problem with my computer started when I had already told him.
He even tells me to turn on my computer after I had told him it won't let me use it because it goes into sleep mode by itself when I use it and then restarts itself.

I also say I will call them back after I get the number from a legitimate looking site and he was begging me to not hang up but i do anyway. All because of the accent and I know about scams and how there are fake websites out there with numbers for you to call when in fact it's all a scam.

Does anyone know if the website I listed here is actually legitimate? I have read to never call a number from a computer website if it doesn't look like a real company website for your computer.

I wasn't trying to be racist because I have read about computer scams and how one of the signs of a scam is an Indian accent so I got worried and scared.

I think you are being way way way too paranoid about scams. Just because it's someone with an accent doesn't make it a scam XD. Especially considering how almost all customer service places these days are over seas jobs.

Not trying to scare you, but that site indeed looks "scammy", use this instead. http://support.hp.com/us-en, sounds like you called a scammer line.

"SAILogic" also seems to the use the same number, I would avoid it, just look at those prices for support, $100+ usually is a red flag.

Also something I do want to point out, rather than judging based on a person's accent you can do a search on the site you are worried about.
http://www.scamadviser.com/is-supportlinenumber.com-a-fake-site.html

From this it seems it's not well trusted.

A dead give away are the prices. http://supportlinenumber.com/plans.php

One time "support" $199, 90 days support $240, and 180 days $299.

They also seem to give support for "Router", "Printer", "ISP".. kind of sketchy just there. I don't know if it is a scam, but there are things that are giving me red flags.

I've seen actual scammer sites that seem to follow the same designs, that or it could just be a legitimate company in India charging insane prices.

Oddly enough I looked up the address, and it appears to be office space, looks nothing like a call center. unless it's 4 guys sitting at a table. Not sure also, but it seems to be a research center??

Ya personally, I wouldn't call for support other than on official places in the first place. XD Like need HP support, then go to HP site. Apple support, go to Apple site. Etc.

I dunno, Ive been given the run around by computer help lines before, usually from the person im talking to either not understanding my problem, or not understanding the solution to my problem, it usually results in them passing me off to someone else to start the whole cycle over. the worst case was when our company was upgrading to a dedicated company server last year...and trying to upgrade all the computers to either windows 8 professional or windows 10.

I also ran into a couple of scams while this was going on and I was looking for digital windows pro keys, and guess what? they were in india

are you a jerk for feeling that it might be a scam because they were indian? not in my opinion.. better safe then sorry. the keyword here is MIGHT, you obviously did not 100% think it must have been a scam, or you might would not have tried to bridge the gap and explain your problem to them, but its smart to keep all personal concerns in the back of your mind just in case

you might be a jerk, if you 100% assumed because it was an indian, it was a scam. maybe not so much a jerk, as very close minded.

Personal opinion.

That was the website I was trying to find I found in the middle of the night but couldn't find it again. So I had to go to my History to find it again and went from there.

I've heard radio ads for that outfit (Regus). It's some sort of rent-an-office-by-the-hour deal. An actual physical address, people to answer the phone, meeting rooms if you needed to get together with clients in the flesh, in other words, everything you need to look like you're a real business. That lends credence to the scam theory. Brings to mind the Newman-Redford classic "The Sting"

This is the actual HP site: http://support.hp.com/us-en/

Huh, that is quite interesting actually :p

The fact that they called you back and begged you not to hang up should be a big hint that it's a scam! I've never dealt with a consumer helpline where they've been that desperate to help you! :)

I just had a very quick look at the HP website, and it looks like you can contact them for support by selecting your device and completing a web form here:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

It doesn't look like they have a phone number to call unless you pay for one of their support packages (but I might be wrong).

Okay -- had a quick look at the "dodgy" site, and they're nothing to do with HP. You pay them anything from $149 per issue, or several hundred dollars for a few months' support. There have got to be better/cheaper options. And I'm not sure I'd trust them. You'd have many more legal rights and guarantees if you're dealing with a company based in your own country.

And there are lots of web forums where people are more than willing to help if you're having problems.

Hi there! You are not a jerk!
I'm a computer network specialist, right off the bat the address is wrong wrong wrong!!! Definitely a scam. Well done being suspicious!

Authentic HP support will always end with .hp.com/ before forward slashes, anything else will be fake =(
Authentic: hello.hp.com/something.php?something=Meow

I did some quick snooping on the scammer Internet System Lookups (Whois DNS): https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=supportlinenumber.com
He runs the scam on GoDaddy LLC servers in USA 166.62.27.55.

I have warranty so I know I shouldn't be pay a dime for their help and plus I know what happens when you let scammers take over your computer, do not piss them off while they have control over your computer.
